Are you ready for 7 million people on tiny Singapore?

Harlequin:
Relax, pals... it's not like the whole world of people is locking their migration target at Singapore, or there are no other attractive countries to accommodate them.
Yes there may be other attractive targets, perhaps even more attractive than Singapore. However Singapore is an easy migration target with wide open arms :frustrated: -
concern2:
Oh, that's a rather apt description :evil:WeiHan:
However, as the cents counting scrooge that our government is well known to be, they wouldn't welcome a flood of parentless babies...\"who is going to pay for bringing up these babies\"...they will certainly think.
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
However, that aside, I don't think they should worry about state raising the child. Just put the child up for adoption. It's quite common in US, even families with kids are allow to adopt. -
pirate:
paiseh paiseh my Maths is rather poor[If the parents convert to SC, the children also become SC and will hold dual citizenship until 21 when they have to elect which to keep. But that is beside the point. If they do dodge NS, they will not remain in Singapore. But their parents (the 1st generation SCs) will, and the parents will contribute to those who are aged in 2030-2050. So projecting to 2030, where is the younger SCs from today's new SCs?
That is why I say the maths do not add up.
but your analysis certainly sounds convincing - new migrants adding to woes of aging population! :faint:
By the way, what about 1st generation SCs aged parents?
I heard it's quite common that 1st generation SCs will arrange for their parents to move to Singapore to help take care of their children -

haha. I won't be surprised if the southern islands, Pulau Ubin will all be converted to residential areas. so many people to squeeze in such a tiny plot of land!Mawar:
Other cities may have higher population density than ours but they have outlaying countryside. The inhabitants have the option of seeking peace and solace within their own borders. We don't have that option.
Precisely!
Where else can we go :scratchhead: Even outskirts such as Jurong West or Woodlands are crowded nowadays.
I suppose we need to move to pulau ubin to enjoy some fresh air :siam: -

Singapore has full of potential!sleepy:

yeah yeah...and next time you will hear PAP introducing their candidates as \"sons and daughters of Pulau Ubin\"! :rotflmao:
Maybe Singapore should build its city underwater machiam like Atlantis... then we will take submarines instead of subway to get home... -

If they are not PR, they can't stay long, can they? Social visit pass, but I doubt they are allowed to stay.

I have PRC friends who are SG or PR now. They apply 10 year long term visa for their parents to come and take care of their kids. A few old people digging into the trash bins down my flat are all PRC people. Even that kind of carton boxes collection is facing competition

Ah....there ought to be some constraints on that then.
