My S1 dd came back telling us there are only 30 places for uniform groups. The one he is keen in only has 10 places and he believes it will be overwhelmingly subscribed. Any parent here with boys from S2 can share the experience on cca selection and posting?

which uniform group is that ? the vacancies according to this document is mostly 30 with st john's being 20

Thanks for correcting. It's 30 not 10 for UG. Ds is keen on NCC land although he was preselected for a performing art cca.

I bought the book two years ago and it it left untouched. The school will give maths notes.

OK. Which mean optional. Btw, is it New Syllabus or Discovering Mathematics? Thanks for your relpy.

New syllabus. I noted that u have posted the same qn in rgs, ri and nygh. Y?[/quote]My boy does not have a Maths textbook. Just want to find out which other schools are using which textbook before deciding which book to buy. Surprise to find out that some schools do not use textbook too.

In S1, is there still spelling or dictation for Mother Tongue/English ?

Kafer, do students normally keep the subject files eg. History,Geography etc in the locker or bring to-and-forth ? Reason for asking is that I am concerned about the weight of the school bag (+laptop) but if leave the files in locker, it is like out-of-sight-out-of-mind ?

Uniforms - I find there is balling (布面起毛) on the uniforms after a few wash. Is it just us ?

My DS does not have a habit of filing since his primary school days. His bag would pile up all the worksheets (done or not done, marked or unmark). He cleared them only each term breaks. I am seeing his school bag getting heavier and heavier now and he still refuses to file them according to the subjects. I am leaving him alone and letting him do what he wants. Hopefully he will realize that things are different in secondary school now. He only being ferried one way to school and I expect him to take bus back. I think give him another few weeks, he will know the consequence as he has to lug the heavier school bag to take public transport and is a long ride home 😉

I do not see such problem in the school uniform. So far so good ...

                    Thanks all.

Kafer, are you a parent or student ? 😄

but my son claimed he doesn't know which worksheets the teacher will be covering so he left the whole file in the locker :slapshead:

Zekezachzoom, my boy also bad in filing ! Now he is leaving everything in the locker. Is the locker so big ? :scratchhead:

I m a parent. For maths myson will bring the worksheet the teacher is covering now amd a few worksheet of the upcoming chapter.

Even now at sec 3, I will remind him to keep his file at home so that he can do his filing.

If i remember correctly, there is only file check for eng, chimese and maths.
