What if, in 10-20 years' time, there are other far more attractive cities for them to emigrate to? Would they still want to come here?
And after getting all ready for that supposed \"worst case scenario\" of 6.9m, the immigrant doesn't flock here--as they've anticipated, then how? What are we gonna do with the presumed \"Singaporean PMET\" core then?
If they can lack forsight few years ago, there's no reason why the same batch of policy-makers wouldn't lack forsight yet again, is there?

It's this republic people that lack foresight.
A National White Papers takes a few years to prepare, as soon as they released one, they will start to lay the ground work for the preparation of the next one.

Not only that foreigners will stop coming, our own young and capable people may seek better job opportunities overseas, leaving even less working adults here supporting an aging population. Opposition party is not the savior god, when we are at 1:2 working adult/retiree. Even if they are put into power, I would bet they would do the same things as what PAP is proposing.

The lack of adequate infrastructures. He undersestimate the SG people's resilience. Don't think he admitted he should have halt his immigration policy.

Imagine your beloved children will be slap on 45% tax and 20% GST cos money no enough, too many aged population to take care. How? If not import the immediate group of people to help pay taxes, pair down our children's liability.
This group of immigrants use much of their origin countries resources for their upbringing, but when they are in their productive years, they will be absorb here to lay their golden eggs to supple us! Amen, I thank God for that. -

It will be a day, when we, commoners/laymen started to agree that we need new immigrants but it may be too late, we have got not much left to attract the willing people. So, the White Paper says, WE DO IT NOW! While we still can.... -

Many here have urge parents here to \"use your vote\" for the path to that rose garden.
