Please don't be depressed.
You scored 247, that's a good score. Don't undermine yourself.
With your score, I'm sure you are in a much sought after school, right?
You shd enjoy Yrself in the new school.
Thank you for your encouragement but I'm afraid I won't be very happy and I can't be happy even if I want to I envy my frens who are in NY RGS and NJC I'm even crying to sleep very nite :(
Which school are you in now?
Must be a gd school with yr commendable score.
I am in crescent girls school -
I am very depressed and sad everyday as I badly want to get into Nanyang and NJC. A lot of my friends are there now. I would like to appeal at the end of the year but what am I supposed to do?
Your score is good and should be within around top 1x% of the cohort.
PSLE is over and no matter how resigned you feel, PSLE will never be repeated again.
You can't change history, so you should pick yourself up, move forward and not look backwards.
Instead of being so depressed, convert such negative thoughts to positive energy and strive hard for your goals in current school.
Don't compare with your friends and don't allow people to compare you...Jiayou! :hugs:
I want to be happy but I can't because I'm from RGPS so I want to get into RGS but I'm afraid I can't whenever I browse through my Facebook I'll see all my friends wearing RGS school uniform looking very happy that makes me feel sadder -

=.= Not trying to be rude but you’re starting to come off as quite whiny. Look, I was in what was considered a rather elite girls school, and about half my class went to HC (including my closest friends). Of course I was sad that I couldn’t join them, but I got over it. Now I’m in VJ which is not elite, but still a very good school. And I’m happy there. Similarly, Crescent is a very good school and you should learn to appreciate what you have.

Hi. VJ is a very good school. I agree I am whiny that's because I'm still recovering from my depression. -

Hi Gwen Stacy,
I’m in CGS too, separated from my best friend who is in a better school. My situation is a bit different from yours, since I didn’t really had a dream school or something to begin with. If you ask me, I’m not genuinely happy in this school, but I know there is no point feeling sad or wallowing in self pity. Hence, I am trying to enjoy myself here in CGS as much as possible. Some of my closer friends were not able to come to CGS, but they are doing well in their new schools and are happy that they are there.
I came across this quote a few weeks back and it really hit me:
" You can’t have a better tomorrow if you don’t stop thinking about yesterday. "
A good or better school can’t and won’t guarantee you happiness. Try to be happy and enjoy yourself even if you don’t feel like it, even if it is hard, even if you just feel like isolating yourself from everything. Life isn’t always kind, but try to like it nonetheless. Trust me, you won’t regret it. ^^ -

Hi,
If an appeal is needed, must it be done on the same day when the child report to the sec. school that he/she is posted to? Or there is a deadline to appeal?
And what is expected from us when we report to the posted sec school? Immediately buy uniform and textbooks? What if we are not in Singapore?
:?
Maybe we will be out of town in Dec. I hope to find our more 1st. Kindly advise. Thank you. -

there is a deadline for appeal ...check with the sch u wanna to appeal...
Though most would wanna to do it ASAP....
On the reporting day, for some schs, there will be a talk by the sch P/ VP....
Yr child will most probably know his/ her allocated class, and meet the FT.....(depends)...
Fill in some required forms ...( eg. Giro form)
And then proceed to buy sch uniforms and textbks...
Yes, u can dont buy all these on the same day But most parents would prefer to settle all these within this day.... -

Thank u very much Augmum,
That’s the whole trouble. I can appt a proxy to do the registration but for buying of textbooks & uniform, I still have to do it myself. I wonder how and where can we get these stuff after the reporting day. Guess this can be settle easily. I am more worried IF an appeal is required…
BTW, the appointed proxy only need to bring the relevant doc. to the posted sec school will do? Is there anything else required? -
pineapple tarts:
The proxy must bring the completed proxy form and the necessary documents. You can download the form from the MOE website and the form has a list of the necessary documents. There is no need to buy books and uniforms on the day itself as the school bookshop will usually be open (check with the school for exact times) during the school holidays, and uniforms can be bought from a uniform shop (again, check with the school) which you can go to at another time. Textbooks can be purchased from bookshops like Popular, but items with the school's name like exercise books are only available from the school bookshop. We were away on the school registration day too and my proxy did it for us and also bought the books, but we bought the uniforms later. You can also sign the GIRO form etc later. That's the whole trouble. I can appt a proxy to do the registration but for buying of textbooks & uniform, I still have to do it myself. I'm not sure what would be needed for an appeal. You might want to check with your target sec school or with MOE, and how you can have a proxy do it for you. You might want to leave relevant documentation for your proxy in case it's needed. -

Dear slmkhoo,
Thank you very much for your reply. I hope appeal is not required :xedfingers:
I hope its not too troublesome cos my proxy will have to apply leave to run this errand for me. -

Yes, the anxiety and agony comes when there is a need for Appeal.....

Hereby , wish u All the Best....Success without an Appeal....
Textbooks can be found in Popular except those required items, like excercise bks, sch writing pads...etc...
U still can buy textbooks and uniforms fr the sch after reporting day....
for some parents who do not want to waste time queueing ( be prepared for very long Q on that day)
they will go back another day to buy...
But the usual case is, since they alrdy taken leave on the reporting day, they would rather settle everything on that day....
Please check with the sch, what are the other avail dates and timing for BOTH textbks and uniforms....
so that u need not to go back another day for diff items....
One advantage of buying textbooks fr the sch bookshops is that.....
Some textbks are not compulsory to have them as the sch teachers may not use them during lessons....
Usually the bookshop auntie is kind enuff to tell parents abt it....( at least for my gal's sch)
Or when u are at the sec sch on reporting day....seniors who are on duty do share all these info with new parents...
If not, u can ask them...which are the textbks which they do not make use of... -
APPEAL FOR TRANSFER AFTER POSTING (Pg
9.1 MOE will consider appeals for transfer after the S1 Posting Exercise. Such transfers are subject to availability of vacancies and will only be considered for students with:
a. Serious medical conditions (eg chronic heart conditions, kidney problems)
b. Dyslexia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder
c. Physical disabilities (eg using wheelchair, crutches)
Does it mean appeals only allowed for all these cases? Those who want to appeal because miss by a few points not allowed? Or it doesn’t cover those that appeal directly to the school? -

Hi,
Let’s say if a student gets a CO from NYGH, she accepts it.
When her results comes out, she changes her mind.
Can she still appeal to RGS via the supplementary intake?
TIA -
