I seriously think TRAFFIC POLICE need be MORE visible on the roads.

Just last night, there was this NTUC delivery truck which sped past a cyclist outside Nan Hua Primary  Fine, if nothing happens...

Cyclists and motorcylists have to remember one thing...they are 人抱铁...meaning they are not protected on the roads..so they have to be extra alert.
Last night while driving around Pasir Panjang area. There was this female jogger (in her early 20's?). She has her ear piece and we were driving towards towards the winding road. We were on her right with her back facing us. Without even checking oncoming traffic, she just suddenly jog across. We were like 1metre away  She just assumed there is no car and only look at the trafffic on her left. :frustrated: Fortunately dh is usually not a fast driver otherwise that would be a casualty. I actually felt angry and told dh that he should honk at her. Not to reflect the anger/ shock that we have but rather to educate her that what she had just done is very dangerous. Was she too engrossed with her music to be aware of her surrounding environment??? It's not just her life we are talking about but also our family lives should anything happen to her. Frankly I felt really pissed off with such irresponsible act.

Yes, some pedestrians have become complacent esp. along low traffic lanes. They will even give you \"the look\" if you honked at them to warn them you are passing them as they were walking along the road.

Especially for roads along private estate, a lot of pedestrians esp. the joggers and those with prams will not use the footpath. They find it cumbersome to go up and down the kerbs. (the footpaths are separated by the entrances of houses)

They always walk along the road and they don't just endanger themselves with this encroachment but the motorists too esp along bendy two-way one lane roads.

Perhaps all these footpaths should be made more user-friendly. They should do away with the kerbs and replace them all with a gentle slope

It's fine if reckless drivers or complacent pedestrians do not treasure their lives...but cause others to live in regret for no reason if something happens.

I almost had a heart attack the other day when pedestrian strolled out from nowhere...ears stuck to the ear plugs. Brainless, irresponsible people

It is particularly tragic because she and her family were just doing exactly what most of us do everyday. But I'm particularly glad that the healing has started for her and her husband. I don't think anyone can recover from something like this, but we should be happy with whatever little lessening of the pain we can help the family accomplish.

Singapore though is a little red dot, we cant expect to see traffic enforcers at all places.

We could do our part. Send email to [email protected]

Saw Red Light Cameras being installed at an accident-proned junction yesterday.

Amazing how many people still take for granted - also saw motorcyclist passing at red light before it turned green, and women and children standing on the road at traffic junctions instead of on the pavement.. :faint: These people never read news and self-reflect ah...

Everyday, I witness many pp chosing to walk through the carpark in front of my flat, in front of parking lots, instead of using the pavements on both sides. These include families with young children, parents with strollers, teens/adults on hp, sometimes even occupying half the driveway. It’s quite a busy parking lot with vehicles moving in & out constantly throughout the day.

It just takes a driver to be careless for an accident to happen.

Pedestrians need a lesson on road safety. Standing at the traffic junction is so dangerous...if a driver makes a u-turn and loses control of steering wheel, the pedestrian suffers. One can never be presumptuous that nothing will go wrong :slapshead: Anything can happen on the road.
