Are you ready for 7 million people on tiny Singapore?

I think we're talking about different types of FTs here. .
No, I'm talking about FT from a certain asian country same same as dbs head. -

Can hint hint which stat board this is?
But I think the general complain is SCs being bullied by FTs from other countries, in other MNCs, GLCs and even stat board (like me!). Those of you here who are so agreeable to the white paper, can I ask if you have worked in a company where SCs are the minority? In the stat board that I am in, only 35% in my dept is SC. The boss is a new citizen. The 4 middle management people are all FTs. My previous workplace has now turned into 70% FT vs 30% SC. If you have worked in a place like tat, and you can still so passionately embrace the white paper, then I really must salute you, from the bottom of my heart, because frankly there is no way I can do it. -

To obtain tax incentives from the govt, they will usually stipulate a certain no. of SCs that need to be employed.
There are however exceptions as sometimes we just do not have those talent locally. So it is understandable in cases like that, they will grant exceptions.
However, for the SCs portion, of course, they donβt split by true blue or convertsβ¦ -

It is not just semantics. It is feasible, although our govt appears reluctant, to regulate foreign worker ratios at the industry level. It is not feasible and just ridiculous bureaucratic red-tape to regulate foreign worker ratios at the company department level. So, yah. If you work in an IT company providing IT support to a bank that outsourced its IT support, you work in the IT industry. If you work in the IT department of a bank, you work in the banking industry, not the IT industry. Is just semantics..
You mean if that mnc decides to outsource its IT support to an IT company, then the part of it suddenly becomes part of IT industry economy but when it was done in-house, it was not considered an IT economy...is meaningless classification. -

Au contraire, the govt regulates FW according to 5 sectors:Construction, Process, Marine, Manufacturing & Service......

I know. They should be regulating it across industries, which is more detailed than across sectors, especially that very nebulous sector called 'service'.pirate:

I suspect it may even be feasible to lightly regulate at company level. Many of these MNCs, EDB contacted, negotiate the terms and brought them in to invest here. So...I don't see why at the negotiation stage, quota cannot be set in the memorandum.

You set quota lor, see if they still want to come.

FYI, the quota is set such that SCs and PRs are together. They call it Singapore residents. So can have a company with 100% PRs.To obtain tax incentives from the govt, they will usually stipulate a certain no. of SCs that need to be employed.
