This is what I have gathered but I reckon my picture is not yet complete.

At the end of P3 students will be streamed again. Those who are strong in the languages would be selected for BICEP in P4, and I think it will be by class. BICEP is a program that focuses on advanced learning in both languages, but if the P3 student shows good results in languages but not in the other subjects, then the child would not be encouraged for BICEP cos the standards of the other subjects would naturally be higher.

At the end of P4 the children would be into subject-based banding. Those who qualify the set criteria would be able to offer 4 subjects at standard level plus HMT (4S+HMT) in P5.

What I cannot figure out now is whether BICEP exists in P5 and P6, and how this stratification works with the offer of 4S+HMT. If BICEP does exist in P5 and P6, does it mean that all 4S+HMT students are in BICEP, or are there students with 4S+HMT but may not be in BICEP.

Any parents with inputs on the above or if my impression is wrong please clarify.

      Thanks.

BICEP is a 3 year program. Which means once you are in Bicep class, you will have the same classmates for the next 3 years. And all bicep students has to take HMT irregardless of the recommendation made by the school based on your p4 results.

thanks Kitty but I think you still did not answer the qn. Can someone be in a high ability class (ie top 2 classes) but not a BICEP pupil or will everyone in the high ability class automatically be BICEP pupils?

Yes, you can be in High Ability Class but not a BICEP pupil.

And not neccessary all top 40s in the cohort will be in bicep class. They will still look at the students attitute and language results.

Thanks kitty, is it the same concept for y2k? So Bicep or y2k pupils don’t form their own class? They could be subsets from any high ability or normal ability class except they are bunched together for extra lessons due to Bicep focus or y2k focus?

                    Hi imp75,

I’m not sure about how other high ability class works.

But for bicep class, they do not mixed lessons with other classes.

Just wondering how do kids study for science without tuition or enrichment? Do they really need to memorise all the key words and phrase?

Kind of confused with this "high ability class".

What constitute a "high ability class" ?
