after >3 weeks, DS is more settled down with the new school bus arrangement. Drop off time is back to almost the same as last year. After school bus timing is rather flexible as the driver leaves as soon as all students are onboard instead of waiting for the fixed 3.30pm and 5pm. I think the transport provider and school did put in efforts to improve the arrangement.

        Hi

Is there any parents with kids in gymnastics school team? The coach told me that P3 onwards, the students in school team have to go for training 3X a week. Is it very tough? during competition, will there be training every week? I understand there’s supplementary lessons from P3 onwards, and how do they attend CCA & supplmentary class?

          Hi,

My kids are in the Gym school Team. (P5 & P6) Yes, P3 onwards, training is 3x per wk. School holidays 5x per wk.
Though tough, my kids enjoy it very much. Competition is usually in Apr every year.
Supplementary lesson start from p3, should be only 1x per wk. P5 & P6 supp class is 3x per wk. Supp class will end at 3 pm, so they will proceed for gym training aft tat until 5.30 pm

One flexibility about Gym in school is that they are open every day from Monday to Saturday so the kids can choose their preferred training days unlike other CCA which might be on a fixed day, so it might be more difficult to arrange tuition & other enrichment classes.

It works well for me so far. Hope the info is helpful to you.

DS is in P1 this year at HPPS. As I am in charge of the maths whilst my DH is in charge of English and Chinese, I’ve been checking his file for Maths homework etc. So far, he had only 1 time Maths homework and the teacher does not really cover the Maths course work book, though she covered the Maths activity book so far. They have just finished the number bonds. Does this sound ok? Anyone whose kids are in P1, can you kindly share?

                  Single session - i heard likely 2014 or 2015
CCA - not compulsory, but your DS can still choose CCA that he wants to participate in

My twins are in Pri 1 in HPPS. In my experience, amt of hw varies depending on their teachers. My son gets twice as much hw as my daughter. I usu just go through their files & student diaries, just to make sure.

                        (1) Very likely. School has applied for single session to MOE for 2014: http://www.henryparkpri.moe.edu.sg/wbn/slot/u1878/Letter%20to%20Parents%2003-2013.pdf

                        (2) Optional, CCA for P1 in 2013 are:

                        Gymnastics
                        Table-Tennis
                        Art Club
                        Dance Club
                        Tennis
                        Batminton

If you don't mind paying, there are alot more to pick/choose from.

                        (3) Should be available, u may have to check during orientation next year.
