In addition to SHAmum’s question, I would also like to know how 3rd language will be helpful for admission to University? Anybody care to share?

3rd Lang can be taken at A levels at h2 level as a contrasting humanities subject. Other than tt, I don’t think it offers any additional advantage for local uni admissions and thus, 3rd Lang should only be taken out of pure interest.

According to the MOELC website, taking 3rd Lang up to A levels does put the student in an advantageous position for scholarships to unis in these foreign countries.

              Hi,

I have children in foreign uni and am familiar with local uni. As far as I know, there's no advantage in the 3rd language at all. In fact, it is better not to take if you want to offer it in the uni, because you can then start at the same beginner level as everyone else. If you have prior experience, you will have to take the uni course at a more advanced level often competing with native speakers. But if your child loves the language and cannot wait to learn it, then I'd say go for it. πŸ™‚

Yes they are. For the categ A division, the RI team that came in 2nd comprised RGS girls while the RI team that came in 3rd comprised RI boys. πŸ™‚

As far as advantage is concern, I think it is still good for us to know some Malay language since we are surrounded by Malaysia and Indonesia.
