You can try 拼音100分. It has pictures and games which will capture the kids' attention.hi my DD1 is going to P1 next yr. She is quite weak in hypy and I intend to teach her myself every weekend, using her current K2 sch materials. But would anyone know whether this is a good app on iPad that I can download for her? Kids learn much faster using Apps.
Thanks! -
Can anybody help me on this please?
Do we learn zi xing che or jiao che in primary school?
Any difference? -

jiao che ---轿车--Car
So they are totally different..... -
Another example, in China, taxi is referred to as 计程车 but in local context, Singapore, it should be 德士。

I am a believer that strong language skills are best picked up through actual usage. For aural and oral skills, I can always turn Cartoon Network and Discovery etc to Mandarin. For reading skills, I am trying to find Chinese books for dd that children of her age would actually find interesting to read.
For English, there is Geronimo Stilton, story books about princesses, aliens, monsters, ghosts etc. Can anyone recommend any Chinese equivalent? I don’t even care if they are comics. Anything that will interest a P1 kid enough to actually want to read it will do. -

You can try Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf. The books are meant for lower primary level and it has \"HanYu PinYing\". -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasant_Goat_and_Big_Big_Wolf.I am a believer that strong language skills are best picked up through actual usage. For p1 student, i would recommended to get a book with Han Yu pin yin unless your child is very strong in Chinese. Otherwise, your child will lose interest with the book.

When my ds1 was in p1, he can't even read 1 single Chinese character bec I am Chinese illiterate and he only attended 1/2 yr of K2. Then I stumbled on tamarind's blog. The 1st thing that I must do is to make my ds pick up a Chinese book. It doesn't matter whether he can read the book or not. started off buying pic books with only 1 sentence. My ds really liked the pic in the books. So I told him if he wants to know what is the book about, then he must learn Chinese. So slowly he started to pick up and I ended up
buying more n more cl books as he progressed. Thanks to tamarind, my ds is in the top hcl class. During ptm, his cl teacher told me he is the 4th highest for cl ca1. Because of tamarind :salute: my ds no longer dislikes
cl. U can go to her blog to find out more and the list of books she recommended. Sorry :offtopic:
