Understand.
Thank you. -
There is no mention about Higher Chinese being first language anymore. Although I believe back in the 90s it was known as EM1. But after scrapping this type of differentiation, Chinese is just split into normal Chinese and Higher Chinese. Only the SAP schools offer Higher Chinese from P1 as a compulsory mother tongue to promote the culture.
The core passages are the same but Higher Chinese text books have additional "增广" (enriched) passages like Chinese poems etc. -
Was wondering if anyone could advise, based on the facts below, do i stand a chance in Phase 2B for HIPS?
I live less than 1km from HIPS. I’m a baptised catholic but hubby and kids are not. Hubby is a grassroots leader but he serves Aljunied GRC and not Hougang SMC. Though we live less than 1km away, our place is under Aljunied GRC.
I’m actually in a dilemma whether to send my boy-girl twins to the same school or separate school. If separate school, no prob for my girl coz i’m an ex-IJ girl, but where to send my boy? Was thinking Maris Stella for boy but we are more than 2km away. Did not consider Monfort as i don’t hear good reviews.
Hmmm… -
Hi all, my son is born in 2008 and is registering for P1 in June 2014.
I am looking at being a PV for Holy Innocents’ Primary School this year, not sure if I missed the dateline.
Does anyone know if they are still open for application??
Many thanks for any replies!! -

If your kids are baptised, you can apply in Phase 2B and stand a good chance. Any reason why you don't want to baptise them? If you don't mind a separate school, then try Maris Stella. Again, you stand a good chance balloting in Phase 2B (if Catholic) but may not stand a chance if you go Phase 2C. St Gabriel's may be more guaranteed. Was wondering if anyone could advise, based on the facts below, do i stand a chance in Phase 2B for HIPS?

If your kids are born 2009, you are still in time to volunteer at HIPS and get Phase 2B without having to baptise them. -
MrsChong:
Most schools closed the PV applications in Dec 2012 for those born in 2008. They usually announce the volunteer list in Jan 2013. But since it's still Feb, there's no harm in calling them to ask if you can still take part.Hi all, my son is born in 2008 and is registering for P1 in June 2014.
