Aiyo, so much regret that I wasnt there at Hong Lim park!! 😞 Such an admiring turnout! Nearly cried when I watched the video where they sang Majulah Singapore, like you can feel their pride! More pride than during National Day!!

              Pirate,

Why do you think that the salaries of PMETs are "inflated"? Are you saying that they are being paid more than their deserved wages because of cost savings by companies that hire cheap foreigners?

I am not sure if many will agree with you because despite increases in their salaries, this group of employees are also feeling the pressure because of an overall surge in the cost of living. For example, my pay increment between 2004-2010 (when I was still working for a company) was 50%. Normally that would be a good achievement. But guess what? The price of a HDB flat increased by about 100% during that period. Although my pay went up, I was less able to afford a home.

If a policy is already not working well, why do we continue to defend it? The alternative may not be perfect but it’s not like things are going well enough for us to make a strong case for the current system.

Back to the very basic one, we are very aware of what price we are paying that we are having so many non born and bred SC, eg. overloading of public transport, culture shock, etc etc etc etc.; and we are hating it…

Not sure if you are aware what price we have to pay if SG cannot sustain the population growth, the shrinking population, the fast aging population, shrinking workforce, much smaller pool of consumers, trimmed market size, etc etc…

Can some one share the trade offs… even it’s just an optimistic anticipation?

                TIA.

Pirate mentioned this:- don’t just say (know) what we don’t want…

Say/know what we want, (and may I add) and if we do get what we want, what’s the costs?

                  Cost to cost.
