Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this qn :
If a child is eligible for EESIS and posted to independent school, is the child still eligible for other forms of financial assistance like MOE Independent School Bursary (MOE IB) ? Or are there other means of financial assistance available?
Reason for my question is that the school fees for independent school is still quite high (minus the subsidy from EESIS) plus there are still considerable miscellaneous fees. Tough for the current financial situation.
Any advices is appreciated. Thank you. -
Yes, you can get financial assistance on top of the EESIS. But you must meet the criteria. Should be able to find out from the class form teacher when school starts and then get the necessary forms. I heard of people getting assistance with income of $7000 because the calculation is based on per capita income. So if the family(no of dependents) is big, the per capita income is low, you can still get assistance even though it seems like high income on the surface.

Hey all, MOE has just released the cut-off points of secondary schools and JCs in the latest posting exercise. I have arranged the schools by order of their COPs for easy reference. Hope this helps in your secondary school selection and planning.
Some interesting facts pointed out -- A distinction in Higher Mother Tongue (HMT) will grant 3 bonus points for entry into Special Assistance Plan (SAP) schools; Merit = 2 points and Pass = 1 point. SAP schools tend to put more emphasis on the Chinese language and Chinese cultural education. There are 11 SAP schools as follows:
Nanyang Girls' High
Hwa Chong Institution
Dunman High
River Valley High
St Nicholas Girls'
Catholic High
Nan Hua High
Anglican High
Nan Chiau High
Chung Cheng High
Maris Stella High
(MOE has not stated if the cut-off points of these SAP schools are inclusive of HMT bonus points. Could somebody help to clarify?)

Update 14Mar13: As per your feedback, I have compiled 2 separate tables, comparing the COPs of Integrated Programmes and Express Streams separately. This is to provide a clearer picture as to the popularity of IPs in all schools that offer it. Please refer to the bottom-middle section of the http://www.acetutors.com.sg/Secondary-School-Ranking-2013-Based-On-PSLE-Intake
Do let me know if there are any errors in the compilation so that I can amend them. Thanks!
