Yes. Couple of my DD's classmates are going. Last yr in P4, the immersion trip to Taiwan was abt Chinese and the girls were heading to Beitou School, which has been est'd abt a century ago.

curious ... is it compulsory to go for this type of trip, or only for selected pupils only ? (ie. those able to speak Chinese well when go Taiwan)
      is the trip ex ?

This is not compulsory but the response was overwhelming. Sch short-listed 40 of them during the 1st round & thereafter, the girls had to attend interview. In the end, would choose 20 of them as there were 4 teachers travelling and each teacher was assigned to 5 girls. If I recalled correctly, it was around $1450 for 5D4N.

Having said, once these girls have attended the immersion trips, future trips will be given priority to those who have not attended yet.[/quote]dd very excited about the trip and hope she can clear the interview.... this trip also 5D4N around $2k....

Hi I am terribly curious about these trips though my dd is only in P1. When do our girls start having overseas immersion trips? Is it always during June and Nov/Dec hols? Do the girls who go on the trip write a report when they are back? What's the criteria like?

KSP : Good luck to yr DD. Definitely, it is a good exposure for the girls to be independent and my only child survived w/o us, though initially we were reluctant to let her go.

Smurfy : I am unsure as DD joins RGPS only when she’s in P4. I think the immersion trip will kickstart at this age. The trip is held normally after the exams. Yes, the girls have to do a reflection report of what they have learnt and gained in this learning journey.
Criteria wise, it is the tr’s assessment on the girls & one thing I have noted, the girls have to be articulative and able to present well since they represent as ambassadors of RGPS.

          Hope this helps.

            curious …

does our school allow P1 girls to celebrate birthday in school -
like bring in a birthday cake lit with 7 candles? Or just distribute party goody bags to the whole class of 30 pupils ?

Or this type of kiddy stuff is banned for P1s -
since they’re already now officially studying in a primary school ?

My friend's DD went Taiwan immersion trip last year, and was selected to Perth trip again. She is really a high self-motivated girl.

                  Mishasha:
Many non Chinese students take Chinese as MT, weaker students screened out to do as foundation subject. I came across quite a few non Chinese students @ the Chinese reading program while I was doing PV there.

Since the student take up Chinese as MT, she would not be able to attend other MT lessons as timing clashes. If not taking Chinese in PSLE, how to score with only 3 subjects?
Does anyone know who foundation subject affects the overall PSLE T-score since foundation cannot compared apple-to-apple with the normal level most are taking? How disadvantaged(or not at all) will taking a foundation subject have on the overall T-score?
