      there were 4 times as many red pens as blue pens in a box. 415 red pens and 46 blue pens were removed from the box. as a result, the number of blue pens became 3 times as many as red pens. how many blue pens were there in the beginning?
      R [---------][---------][---------][---------]

      B [---------]

      R [][][][46][][][][46][][][][46][][][][46]

      B [][][][46]

      [][][46][][][][46][][][][46][][][][46] --> 415

      11u + 46*4 --> 415
      11u --> 231
      1u --> 21

      No of blue pens were there in the beginning = 3u + 46 = 3*21 + 46 = 109 (Ans)

            this question is not structured properly... it would be more logical to replace \"least\" with \"maximum\".

            cheers.

                Grandma bought an equal number of apple and kiwi. The apple were 8 for $4 and kiwi 5 for $6. She paid $84 more for kiwi than apple. How much did she paid in all.

                      Please help me with this qn too.

                      Mrs Ravi was getting some items from an electronics store. First, she bought a tv set with half of her money plus $14. Next she bought a washing machine with half of the remaining money plus $13. After that she bought an oven with half of the money left over plus $12. She ended her shopping spree by buying a rice cooker with half of the money left plus $11. When she arrived home, Mrs Ravi was left with $35. How much money did Mrs Ravi have at first?
