\"mysterious\" death and the stuff of hollywood movies and conspiracy theories. don't know who to believe. over-paranoid parents or over-slack police.

\"Chinese telecommunications company Huawei said on Monday that it had not worked with an institute in Singapore on any projects in the specialist field of an American engineer who died mysteriously last year shortly after leaving the institute.\"

\"Several times, he told his parents that he felt he was under threat because of his work with the Chinese. Mr Todd tried to talk Shane into coming home. Shane said no, he had an obligation to IME. “I remember, vividly, him saying to me, ‘I am so naive,’” Mr Todd said. “He thought he had been trained for one purpose that was above board. Then he realised he was being asked to do stuff that could harm his country’s national security.”

Wow, never thought this would happen in this country. Plus, if I’m not wrong, there weren’t much coverage on the mainstream media right?

This whole thing is very x-files-ish. Conspiracy theories abound.

Wah..... many angmos falling over themselves suggesting a conspiracy by S'pore and Chinese govt. IMHO, if the GaN research is so important to the Chinese, why would they outsource it to us? In terms of brute research power, we have nothing close to that of the Chinese. And to top it off, why will they get Americans to do it? Incidentally, IME head also American wor.

A simpler explanation would be that the CIA asked their own Americans to try to spy on companies like Huawei, using IME as a conduit. As for why this agent got erased, let's ask the various agents (FBI, DEA, CIA, etc) stationed at the American embassy in Singapore lor.... 😉
