If it starts with gg to the classrm for the teacher's sharing instd of principal's sharing...how do we noe which classrm to go? As p5 & p1 r on the same day, i can only go for the teacerhers' sharing.

      Anyone care to share?
The Meet-the-Teachers session are held in their own classrooms. Like what ezn cia mentioned, there are directional signs everywhere. The school has put up posters to inform parents which blocks and floors the classes are. So, there shouldn't be any problem.

        ezn cia:
Many parents alike, wanted to know our child's development in their academic areas and social aspects. We wanted to know our child's strengths and weakness. However, the school removed the individual (1-to-1) session. Instead the teachers run through the Curriculum. So basically, we parents are \"going back to school for a day\" to be educated on what our children are being educated in.... 😂 interesting huh

A couple of parents were so \"engrossed\" sharing their concerns (not sure whether those were also their children's concerns) that the teachers' session took longer than scheduled. The form teacher started by saying, \"we are five minutes late but don't worry, I will give you your due duration.\" However, one hour later, there was still no sign of ending. What they should have done was to let the teachers finish their presentation and talk to the teachers privately after the session ended.
        ezn cia:
I agree with Titank, it will be impossible for us parents to arrange single session with the FT and MT. I requested a session with the FT and MT for my son to have my burning questions to be answered since last year. And, the answer i got was its difficult to get the teachers altogether for an update. So, to dear RMPS principal, we parents are expected to resolve this issue ourselves btw teachers and parents? How about those parents who are working? One thing for sure and chop-stamped is that the teachers will be fast and immediate to feedback to you if your child is not performing to expectation behavioural-wise. 😂
Ha ha....let me help you \"highlight\" the important question so that the principal can, hopefully, address this issue this Saturday. 😉
        ezn cia:
What they failed to realise is that the school are educating humans and not mass-production of \"robots\". Every child is different, every class dynamics is different and every school is different! What we parents like to know is the strength and weakness of our child in academic and social aspects so that we are able to motivate them in areas they are weak and support them on their strengths. So, by scrapping the \"ONE-2-ONE\" session, we parents had no way to reconcile with the teachers. So at the end of the day, its one-way communication flow. :rotflmao: see a similarity here?
        Another point to highlight. 😉
        ezn cia:
Despite being highly dismay by the school style of engaging parents, I decided to do some \"+ve\" reflective thinking. This is my outcome: \"I got to spend 3hrs without the menace of my children.\" :imcool:
Like what the principal said, for every weakness, if you look at it from another angle, it becomes a strength. :scratchhead: :slapshead:

I was hoping there will be some differences this year. I attended all the past years MTP session, from 1-1 to mass session. I din "take back" much last year, I took that was an opportunity for me to visit DS classroom. Only then, I realised he was the model pupil for that mth last year. I took a photo of that "poster with his face" for his dad to view:> Only then, I realised the chairs are oin poor condition, the construction (upgrading) was very noisy…At certain pt of time, I couldn’t hear wat the Teacher was speaking despite he was using a "mike".

My DS1 teacher actually told my DS1 that I dun need to attend if I have no issue, asked me to go to my DS2 session instead. But I want to hear fr both DS 1 and 2 teachers…and qns from the classmates’ parents.
I recalled last year, there was a discussion on how much homework was given - some complaint not enfg while some preferred not too much…Like a mini debate…quite interesting.

Maybe all of us need to get use to this new Principal management style. The changes I knew was tbe 1to 1 MTP and frequency of notification. I think for sure the kids from P3 are in a bigger class,it maybe 40-46 etc.

Can anyone share the summary highlights by the Principal?Any slides woukd be share at the school website?

Yah, the session I attended last week also had this discussion. So, the question was: how much is much? Parents then went on to say maximum four pages, etc.

If you think this is an interesting topic, maybe you would like to attend it this year. Am sure such topic will crop up again. 😄

If I am not wrong, the principals' slides will be posted on the website next week.

I have a similar issue. Can't attend all of DS1, DD2, and DD3's classroom sessions cos they are all at the same time this Saturday. Might end up hvg to make a separate appt, if it's even possible, with my DD3's FT.

When our basic needs are not met and we can't reverse the situation or the organizer is not able to make accommodation, it is time for creative solutions.

As many often cited it takes a whole kampong to raise a child/ kids, get your child's grandparents, uncles/aunties, nephew or even cousins to go for the session to help you take photo of the slides and take down important notes. There are schools where their students grandparents are active volunteers!!!! So i don't see how RMPS is not able to accept this \"out of the box\" solutions. We can't always :stupid: against the problem and get ourself worked up, it will be easier to get around the problem.

                    Unless,
                    1) the school is wonderful enough and ensure all parents that they will upload all presentation slides of all levels on their website.
                    2) engage PCRs (i.e parent class representatives) to help these group of parents by providing summaries of important information from the presentation.
                    3) teachers are being instructed to make exceptions for these parents to have separate appointments. (then again, it will defeat the purpose of the school management to have mass sessions and more personal time taken away from the teachers) :rotflmao:
                    4) Worst case scenerio, we as parents had to priortise and decide which kid's session to attend, and faced the wrath of the other siblings getting upset as to why we do not attend their class session. Unlike, Dino mummy's DS1 who is magnanimous.
