      rrjan:
      Can someone kindly help me with this qn.

      Another qn:
      A shopkeeper had 377 pens n files. After he sold 4/7 of his pens and bought another 28 files, the umber of files he had became 2/3 the number of pens. How many files had he at first?
      Let me try,
      before
      P[][][][][][][]
      F[ ] ............... }Total of P&F 377

      After
      P[][][][][][][]
      F[][] ................................ }Total of P&F 377+28=405
      u=405/9=45
      Ans=90-28=62

        At first pen is 7 unit; file is 377 - 7unit

        then pen sold 4 unit left 3 unit; file is 377-7unit +28 = 2 unit

        so 377+28 =9 unit

        1 unit is 405/9=45

        at first file is 377-7unit=377-315=62

          Some old folks are sharing 2 bunches of grapes. If each of them eats 12 grapes, there will be 7 grapes short. If each of them eats 11 grapes, there will be 3 grapes extra. If one bunch of grapes has 19 fewer grapes, find the number of grapes in the larger bunch.

          TIA
          still u need help on this qn?
          Pls refer page 177&178, similar qn done.......

            If each person eats 12 grapes, they will be short of 7 grapes.
            If each person eats 11 grapes, they have 3 extra.

            This means there are 7 + 3 = 10 old folks altogether.

            Total number of grapes = 11 x 10 + 3 = 113

            1 bunch has 19 fewer grapes than the other bunch.

            113 - 19 = 94

            94 / 2 = 47

            47 + 19 = 66

            The larger bunch has 66 grapes.

            Enjoy!
