If I were you, I would move nearer to Hong Wen coz it’s a good school and it’s guaranteed at Phase 2A2.

Yes, you can forget Ai Tong if you are not within 1km. Cat High is also not accepting PVs this year onwards due to the stiff competition. Even if your boy gets into Cat High, what about your gal?

Some bishan parents have rented out their own places while they rent a place nearer the school. You could make money this way without selling your bishan place.

        Thanks for your insight Cherrygal,

Although its a mere 10-15 mins drive away off peak hr, hubby is still concerned about the distance especially during peak hour as we don’t intend to rent out our place or shift nearer to the school. But at least we have something to fall back on…

Another consideration would be kuo Chuan Presbyterian Pri which is affiliated and also in Bishan. But I am not within 1km of e radius, about 1.1-1.2km in fact. Hence phase 2C may not have chance… Might need to do PV for phase 2B and not guaranteed.

Hence really in a dilemma right now as I know I have to decide fast on the school to be in time for PV or grassroots. Else really hv to fall back on my alma mater.

Kuo Chuan is a better bet compared with your other targets. It will solve the distance issue and the co-ed issue. But it is not a SAP school. If you do PV for Kuo Chuan, there is a high chance of getting in.

I would advise you to look at the balloting history pages before deciding. At Phase 2B, Ai Tong and Cat High both ballot within 1km at an average ratio of 1 seat : 2.5 applicants. Kuo Chuan sometimes requires balloting at Phase 2C (1-2km). In 2012, after the policy change, all citizens got in regardless of distance. So it's quite safe for you.

              Hi all,

Stumbled upon this thread and am freaking out. Im hoping to place my girl in Katong Convent. Both my daughter and I are Catholics (husband is not though) and we stay within 1km.

From what I understand, I will be in Phase 2B yes? What do you think are my chances?

You stand a really good chance at CHIJ Katong.

BTW, does anyone know if Katong Convent Primary is affiliated to Katong Convent Secondary? And what does this affiliation really mean?
