Supermarkets are kinda empty...could be some parents don't want to cook, preferring to eat at food courts/coffee shop and then quickly get back to revise with kids. Cooking and washing up can be time-consuming.
Ha..ha.. We can give excuse for not cooking dinner too. Thanks Janet. :imcool:

Hubby and I were at NTUC yest evening and there was hardly any queues...coffee shops and eateries were having long queues though.

After CNY weekend, that NTUC was packed but for the past 2 Sundays, it was quiet.

Hope our kids here did well for their first tests...with longer hours and more subjects, it's much tougher from now.

There is a new title published by SAP for editing...lower secondary.
In fact, I just bought 2 titles yesterday from Popular. One is by casco which includes cloze, grammar and some other components...I plan to get him to work on cloze during march holidays and read up literature.

You are welcome…guess we are in same boat…kids have more subjects and we don’t know where to start and how to help.

Popped by Popular just now. Saw this new publication by Victoria…only avail for Sec 1 so far. 综合练习…cloze passages.

Ya agreed with you Janet, one hand hope to let go and let her to be more independent, the other hand still worried for her subjects. This round common test all subjects she did well except her English fails by 1.5mks. Really worried for her and feel 心有余而力不足.

How to let go? It's a BIG jump from primary to secondary. Same number of days in a week but double the subjects and killing part is amount of homework given and staying back on certain days.

My son has to attend this conversational Chinese/Malay program...compulsory for sec 1s. Wednesday - next Mon until 530pm. Classmates told the math teacher they are very tired after the lesson and asked if she can reduce homework. She made a comment, 'So?'
He slept at 11+ yesterday to get Math hw done and today another load.

We don’t really have that much homework. I think DS quite happy in his school. Me too. Got mini tests but not always inform before hand so it’s like a surprise surprise thing. Also good cos no need to stress over them. So I tell DS just have to do regular revisions and listen in class and do all his work properly every time since he might not get a chance to prepare for those class tests.

My boy does not have much homework too. Except a lot of tests. His school Math standard is very high. Half the class failed the Math test, Indices. According to one of his classmates, it is a Sec 3 topic.
