      Harlequin:

Take cordyceps regularly. it helps to clear the airway. It works for my hubby.

I bought from Hock Hwa, 120 capsules/bottle, take one or 2 a day, a bottle can last up to 3months. For his case we see result after taking half bottle, about 2 months. He is on his 2nd bottle now.

Can I try this on my kids with sensitive airways??

Not sure if it works on clearing sensitive airway, the staffs at Bukit Timah Plaza branch is rather helpful, they explained the product in great details.

My elder girl has allergic rhinitis, can be quite bad at times, non stop dripping for weeks; after taking half of a capsule daily for about a month, her nose cleared up.
Before this, she relied on nose puff, Nasonex and Avamys to clear her nose, now she no longer needs her nose puff; and she won't go breathless when playing tennis.

I was told to give her 1 capsule daily, empty stomach with lukewarm water, preferably in the morning; but she takes at night instead. I cautiously halved the dosage cos i am worried if there is any side effect. But the half capsule nightly is good enough.

Does your hubby drink beer or take red/white wine?

When we were newly married, he did not snore. Those were the peaceful years šŸ˜‚

Since start of last year, he drinks coffee every morning. Almost every night, he will drink a bottle of wheat beer or a small glass of red/white wine.

A TCM physician told him the tissue inside his nostril is swollen and more pinkish than usual. I suspect this causes his loud breathing in an air-con room during sleeping.

He refuses to sleep in non-aircon environment - too stuffy to sleep even with the fan switched on.

He does not hv significant weight gain.

MIL brews fish maw with cordyceps for him fortnightly and he is also on lower cholesterol medication.

        🤷

My hubby drinks wine occasionally, our house is fully aircond...is that what caused the snoring?

At first it happened only when he is too tired, slowly it become every night, I am like you a very light sleeper, he tried nose strip, nose drips, even my daughter's nose puff... no use, didn't work.

As for boiling cordyceps, I was told it's best taken empty stomach, and it's unlike other Chinese herbs that the essence could be extract from the double boiling's heat into the soup, to get the optimum benefit from cordyceps is to ingest the plant/root itself.

          schweppes:
Come to think of it, dh snores more when he's sleeping on his back.

          buds:
Like schweppes' DH, buds_hubs also seems to snore louder when lying flat during sleep.
This picture explains why that is so...

So by turning to the side, you prevent the tongue from falling backwards to block the airway.

Thank you for sharing the above.

Was it the Hock Hwa staff who told you?

Would consuming powdered form directly w/o the capsule yield the same benefits as taking the capsule form?

              buds:
Hi schweppes and Jennifer, I suffer from stiff neck and bad back as well. The King Koil contour pillow or the Seahorse contour pillow we've used tackled these quite well so we went for the same (either brand) when pillows need replacing. We also sleep on our sides. Like schweppes' DH, buds_hubs also seems to snore louder when lying flat during sleep. But a gentle shove does the trick. We also recently changed our mattress to a King Koil one which was medium hard - nice and yet firm. Good for back. We don't have air-con.

We also sleep better after our (used to be) regular foot reflexology sessions at Bt Timah.
We changed our mattress recently to a firm one too. He slept well then. I also dun know why suddenly he sleeps so noisily.

Will give the contour pillow a try.

Btw, about the foot reflexology, do you inform the massager there is a sleep issue?

              :thankyou:

We went to Courts Sleep Clinic. Try to lie down on all of the mattresses. We tried quite a good range from what was offered. One of the many that we tried eventually got all of us going aaaahhh..... nice..... even for chubs. Cos when we were all quiet on that mattress, he rolled over to me and said,\"Hmmmm comfy... Milk pweease...\" :please:

                  :faint:

Yes, you should give it a shot. Seahorse has a few types and less expensive if you think you just wanna try it out first. King Koil is the leader of pillows and mattresses so theirs are well researched and offer different variations to suit the fussiest sleepers. I also once tried one from Ikea which was quite ok as well.

Good reflexologists or therapists require no information... they touch your leg oredi they know what's wrong with you or your body. However, if you require extra attention to a certain problem area that has been bugging for sometime or is causing health concerns , can ask them to help work more on that particular area. Every part of the foot represents a specific body part and foot reflexology does indeed help. I wasn't a believer before but now totally sold on this method of inner healing.

                  You're most welcome.

With your 2 sumo babes and everything else you do in between, guess the stiff neck and bad backs are likely to happen.

Maybe indulge and call massage macik to your home to knead away the kinks. Or, do some yoga poses like cat, tree and mountain poses to strengthen your back muscles. Helps with lower back aches.
