Hello there. May I know where can I find a piano teacher that teaches accelerated music theory till grade 5 at a reasonable rate?

Hmmm, probably early next year, March 2014? Actually I am currently at grade 3 theory, taking grade 1 theory on 23rd of March 2013.

May I ask why you are taking grade 1 this march when you plan to sit for grade 5 next year? The grade 1 is rather redundant don’t you think?

My piano teacher at Yamaha music school wants me to take Grade 1, not sure why.
Yeah it is redundant and a waste of money.

P.S. I've been learning the piano for 1 year and 3 months.

Most teachers can take an adult piano student from beginner to grade 5 within your required time frame. Just pop into any music school and ask la.

Since you are an adult learner, you should be able to take grade 5 theory within a much shorter frame; I've crash coursed older students to grade 5 within a much shorter period. As long you can read staff notation comfortably you can immediately begin grade 5 theory preparation as the syllabus is cumulative.

Hi, how to train for aural?

My dd simply cannot remember the tune (too long for her) so has difficulties clapping or singing. Her problem is short retention span so by the time teacher reached 2nd half of playing the aural scores she already forgotten those at the front so always stumble when ask to sing

When she play those aural scores at home she can sing along alright. So I think it's not so much on singing but more of her short retention. In exam, I think can't expect her to play the tunes though, otherwise aural become additional sight reading

How to tackle this? If go higher grade aural scores will be even longer I suppose :nailbite:
