πŸ˜„ Anyone knows when is yr 1 CA ? Tks.

I thought CA includes level tests and pop quizzes? started alr i think all the tests :lightrod:

Ok, maybe let me elaborate more regarding the terms CA1 , CA2 and EOY in DHS.

CA 1 - Period fr Jan to May (before June sch holidays) which includes
Level tests, pop quizzes, assignments and projects for 1 st term
Also includes pop quizzes, assignments and common tests for 2nd term.
All these will have different weightage where common tests carry heavier weightage.
Total : 25 % for Sec 1 and Sec 2, 20% for Sec 3 and Sec 4

We wont know the overall grades for CA1 till we get the dossier (report bk) juz before JUNE holidays.

For Mid yr exams, they are known as Common Tests......(where the pri sch termed them as SA1 but in DHS, it is not called SA1 )

CA2 - Period fr July to Sept ( before Sept sch holidays) again includes
Common tests, pop quizzes and assignments ( normally no projects assigned during 3 rd term)
This is a very short term but still stands at 25%.
Total : 25 % for Sec 1 and Sec 2, 20% for Sec 3 and Sec 4

Lastly, the EOY ( end of yr examinations), the most heavy weightage.
50% for Sec 1 and Sec 2, 60% for Sec 3 and Sec 4.

(Hopes the above helps to clarify some confusion. initially, i too, got confused by the CA1 terms πŸ˜‰ )
(btw im a dunmanian too : P) The File Checks are also graded in CA1 if im not wrong... ...

I am looking for Maths tuition for my child (yr 2). Does anyone know of a good tuition centre, and which tutor to look out for?

Or a good private tutor to recommend?

Btw the teachers in DHS give tuition too; just email them with the dhs mail account for \"tuition\" (It's FREEEEEE πŸ™‚ )

since it is only a very small percentage, probably 5% of the 25 %,
which works out to be only 1.25% of the overall,
so i did not mention it.....
Moreover, the file checks are only once (cant rmb whether CA2,is there any file checks?)
and it is ONLY for the lower sec levels ......

As what often heard/seen fr the students......

\"The workload given for the 1 week March school holidays is even worse then the normal school days\"

already few projects and assignments on hands and likely plenty of Maths worksheets to follow (as usual).....
still need to allocate 1 day for conductig on-site survey (HCL project)....

Isit really giving them a break as the initial definition of School holidays ?? 🀷

Straight after holidays, my DD has tests this week.

After enjoying herself for the 1st half of the March holidays, she rushed through her homework and revision.
Year 1 life seems to be busier than her PSLE year.
How do I know which work is graded? Only those with the grade column on the top right side on the worksheet? When will the parent know the overall grade for each subject for CA1?
My DD is doing well in all subjects except HCL (50-60% range), will she be asked to take normal Chinese? How to improve her Chinese when my hubby and I can’t help?

For lower sec levels, which are the graded work, usually the subj teachers would tell the class beforehand,
And for Maths, all pop quizzes are graded.....
For higher levels, the teachers' replies will be \"No need to ask, ALL will be graded\" πŸ˜‰

So long it is a pass (50 and above) in HCL at end of yr2 and at the end of yr3,
( yes, not only in yr2 before streaming, also need to pass in yr3)
pupils would not be told to take normal chinese.....

Regarding HCL in DHS, i happened to mention something abt this subj in another thread....
Perhaps, u may want to take a look....
