I strongly advise parent(s) to accompany their children as they really need mental support.
My DDs’ sch announced those students who got 250 or more and they stood up in the hall to receive the cheers they deserved.
All the best to P6 students tomorrow!

RE: Dunman High School (Junior High)
I will ask my DDs to bring their friends home for project or play. With my mil at home, we will know who their friends are. We will even offer to send the kids home and chit chat with them. In the car, you can also listen to the girls’ talk and know if they have any BGR issue.
Both single or co-ed school have chances to have BGR since the students have lots of inter-sch competitions, interaction, etc.
Quotes from my DDs "In co-ed sch, you will see/know more guys. Why attached to one when there are so many options."
"Where got time to date when you have weekly test/ pop quiz, projects, CCA training, competitions, etc?"
"Sch is so small, if sis has bf, I’ll definitely know!" - pro of having children in same sch. They can help me look out.
I always let my kids know that crushes are part of growing up. Crushes can come and go. We are learning to admire others’ strength to know ourselves better. Are they are mature enough to handle ups and downs of a relationship? If they can’t, they should not get into one. -

DHS interview shd be on 29 July. My dc studying there. Saw it on one of their calendars. unless they changed the dates...
Based on last year DSA, those shortlised for DHS will receive email to go for English test and interview about 5 days before the test/interview date (same day for all shortlisted regardless of domain). -
RE: Dunman High School (Junior High)
Some interviews may have 2-3 teachers.

Oh My Gosh:
After the English test, they went in groups to various classrooms and waited to be called in for 1-1 interview.
Thank you. Any idea how is the interview process like for DHS DSA, what kind of questions do they asked, etc?
My DD2 told me a few questions like \"what other schools did you DSA\", \"which will be your 1st choice school\", \"did you visit during the open house\", \"what did you like or dislike about it\". Interview mainly in English but may have 1-2 questions in Chinese. -

Oh My Gosh:
What are the difference in commitments if DS DSA via General Academics or DSA via specific domains e.g. Maths/ Science/ English? Which is easier to DSA?
Hi Oh My Gosh,
My 2 DDs in DHS. They enjoy their time there. They make many good friends who support one another. Workload is considered heavy with projects and lots of CCA involvement.
Seeing that they mix with a group of well-behaved friends/classmates definitely set my heart at ease.
My DD2 DSA into DHS. As long as you can meet their requirement, for the DSA online registration, you can \"tick\" a few domains. We applied under General, Academics and Performing Arts. My DD went for the audition and interview under performing arts, however, she was offered under General. It turns out fine because my DD happily chooses another CCA which she loves a lot too.
There is no commitment for DSA General except to stay in the school (no transfer to other school).
Just go for it so you will not regret. Never try, never know.
Even if DSA is not successful, believe in your kids and encourage them work hard for PSLE and they may just get into their dream school via S1 posting. -

Yes, they can go home straight after end of paper for PSLE written.Any parents know whether the candidates can leave for home once the written PSLE ends?
like if english paper ends at 1220h, parents can fetch them home or still need to stay in school until official dismiss time like 1.30pm? -

Schools may set harder than usual papers for SA1, but if the drop in marks is more than 20, I feel we really need to find out why.XYZ1:
Honestly, as a parent, I've learnt not to over-react (probably immuned liao) on such unnecessarily challenging exams...eg where 1/2 to 3/4 of the class failed the exams. I know my kid already feels bad, so I avoid adding oil to fire. The only thing I've been telling him this year is that .... after each exam, just pick yourself up, learn from mistakes, move on and focus on preparation for PSLE....
I also dun understand why sometimes schools are like out to kill and demoralize them...so I just tell my DS to move on....
What you have done is correct, no need to over react especially when the class or whole cohort is not doing well.
Schools will always try to set their standards higher than national standard so that when the students sit for PSLE, they will find it easier to answer the questions. Worst case will be when the students find PSLE questions more challenging than school exams n they will feel even more demoralized.

More careless mistakes due to stress, stricter marking, weaker in certain areas/topics weakness? -
RE: 11 yo jumped at Fernvale link
Kids are just as stressed as their parents when they are getting the results.
Some cry out to release stress, but some keep it to themselves.
I witnessed my neighbour scolding her DS on the way home after collecting PSLE results and her DS was sobbing. He did well getting 250+ but apparently not good enough to meet his mum’s expectation. Kids have pride and scolding them in public was embarrassing.
Before we judge whether the schools are "good school", we as parents have to learn to be a "good parent" first. Parenting is a learning process.
