Children are very adaptable. So dont have to worry so much. In fact there is an article in papers today which reported that some Malaysians take 2 hour journey one way to attend classes in singapore ever day. More importantly , I felt,is whether you believe in the school’s philosophy and your child likes the culture.

The only thing that we are worried abt is the distance..we are worried That she may be tired travelling to and fro on the sch bus..

OLN is the nearest CHIJ to Sengkang. Many of OLN's girls come from Hougang, Sengkang, Punggol, Yio Chu Kang etc. The affiliated secondary school is CHIJ St Joseph's Convent.

If you are living nearer to Buangkok and prefer to travel down Yio Chu Kang road into Serangoon Gardens, then check out CHIJ - Our Lady of Good Counsel. It's at Burghley Drive within the Serangoon Gardens estate. It's also affiliated to St Joseph's Convent.

Thanks iggy and cherrygal. I’m juz worried she may be one of the first to board the bus early in the am!

Cherrygal, i’m staying nearer to punggol side so dun think will consider that…too far! In fact we are within 1km to nan chiau but the chances of entering nan chiau is sooooo slim. Thats why we are considering OLN now

This is a very valid concern. For me, distance would trump school reputation. Meaning, I would any day choose a neighbourhood school nearer my home than a \"branded\" school farther away.
Why are your chances of entering Nan Chiau worse than your chances of entering CHIJ OLN? Do you have time to do PV? Or any clan association you can use?

At phase 2 of the registration, there are Phase 2A1,2A2, 2B, 2C, 2CS.

Exactly which phase are you under?

If you are not sure, then it's best you have a look at http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/ to determine the phase applicable to you.

Thanks a lot big devil mummy, I'm under 2C does it mean I have to wait till the school finish balloting for this phrase on that day then I have to register with a 2nd option school in the event if I do not get into my first choice during 2C?.....

Balloting for all schools takes place after registration ends. So, if you don't get into your first choice school in the ballot, you will only be able to register your child in P2CS in a school that still has vacancies during this phase.

For your information, most of the popular schools will have all their vacancies taken up in P2C.

Hi spooky, it depends on which CHIJ you are talking about, where you live and whether you are a citizen. If you live more than 2km away, you can forget schools like CHIJ St Nicholas and CHIJ Toa Payoh. The not so popular ones can take in S’pore citizens >2km with some balloting or sometimes no balloting.

All of the CHIJ schools usually fill up by Phase 2C. If you don’t get into the CHIJ you want by Phase 2C, then you will need a Plan B school for Phase 2C Supplementary. A possible convent to consider then is Marymount Convent which has places at Phase 2C Supp. This is still a girls school and Catholic but not under the CHIJ umbrella.
