I suppose it also depends on which area you are applying on? My son’s eczema was on his joints and sections of his legs and i would have to wash all the bedsheets as well as the oil will start to smell after a while in the hot weather. I read that it would quickly absorbed into the skin, so I didn’t blot his skin after application. Maybe it would be better if I did.

For chronic eczema, there is usually a trigger, or/and an ongoing infection. If you can find the trigger and remove it, treat any infections thoroughly, you only need to deal with normal dry skin.

If it smells bad, it has gone rancid (which it does very quickly). Fresh coconut oil should have a light sweet scent. Best to keep in the fridge, but you must pour it out into wide necked jars if it was previously in a narrow neck jar, because it will solidify like butter.

        :thankyou:

Smells like nasi lemak fragrance. I bought it from an organic food shop on Level 2 of Thomson Plaza. Next to Jean Yip. Mustafa also has it in their pharmacy.

I used it for a gluten-free brownie recipe and it was very fragrant.

              Taropie:
Coconut oil has a lot of benefits than one could think of. I could attest to it as I had personally used it. First of all, its monounsaturated, unlike most plant oils. It means among other things, it is easily digestible.

Google and you can find a host of its benefits. I had used an organic brand from Natures Farm and eat from spoon just like I would when taking cough syrup. It taste wonderful. The lauric acid components in coconut oil helped to kill fungus in the guts that caused candida and other problem.
              Try it! 😄
              R u still using it?

I'm using it for my skin as a moisturizer now.

                Thank you for the reply.

I came across this Bio Oil http://www.bio-oil.com/en/

By chance, do you have any experience with this?

I have heard of this product but have not used it myself. There are many causes to pimples or eczema. You may want to get a skin doctor to diagnose rather than get something from the counter.

On personal level, I have skin contact dermatitis problem, where anything from garlic to hair could irritate my skin. And I had ezcema when I was living in Scotland where the weather was cold. All I did was a lot of moisturizing and it helped.

Two of my favourite moisturizers currently to minimize my skin problem whenever I get the attack are Aloe Vera Gel and Emu Oil Cream. Good grade Aloe Vera Gel contains 96% water which helps to soothe and moisturize. Emu Oil Cream may be new to you but it has been used extensively by the Australians as its mostly produced there. The main component is actually Emu(bird) fat that is found in their skin. It has anti fungal properties and a natural pain killer too. I had used the oil(100% grade) to manage my shoulders' muscles pain back in 2008.

Currently, I am using the cream only. The oil is rather expensive and I would only buy it when necessary. Aloe Vera gel, on the other hand is affordable. You could get it from Watsons or even Guardian.

You may want to check out the info on emu oil. Google 'Only Emu'.[/quote]Thank you for sharing.
