Hi, I am hoping to get into phase 2B for Catholic High. Is being Catholic not good enough to qualify for this phase? Do I have to be some kind of committee in order to qualify for phase 2B? I am worry and if there is anything I can do now. My son is born in 2008 which mean registration next year for 2015 intake. Please advise.

Being Catholic is good enough for Phase 2B but you will need to live within 1km to even try to ballot. Chances are slim so prepare a Plan B school. -
Can I register my son for 2 schools? If I can get in thru Phase 1 in one school but I prefer Catholic High and will try my luck in Phase 2B. Can it work that way?
-
Moe centralized computer control, only permit your child to register at 1 school only, at all times. You can register your child into phase 1 first. When 2b come & if you deem catholic high chance favorable, then you withdraw from phase 1 first, And apply under 2b. If you get in at 2b, you"re safe. But if you fail at 2b, you can only go forward to next phase, 2c. But you cannot go back to that school in phase 1 anymore.

It depends on whether your Phase 1 school is good or not. If it’s not bad and also quite popular eg. Kuo Chuan Presbyterian, it is a huge gamble to give that up and ballot at Catholic High. The biggest fear is that you get nothing and end up in a less popular school than the Phase 1 school.
If the Phase 1 school is not very popular eg. Guangyang Pri, then no harm trying coz Guangyang will still have lots of seats at Phase 2C Supplementary. Back to square one so no harm.
Weigh your risks. -
If your phase 1 school is guangyang & you want to withdraw to try catholic high under 2b, but if fail to ballot into chs & want to join back guangyang under phase 2c- think best to confirm with guangyang principal discreetly first, check whether school will take you back or not (can be sensitive) In principle, as long as still got vacancies, school should take you back. just hope that there is no discrimination, bec we’re dealing with human. Not sure if guangyang internally manually keep track of who withdraw from phase 1.

How to have discrimination when the P1 registration process is transparent? :scratchhead: -
Principal cannot discriminate even if you pull out and apply again. He/she has to accept all students who register as long as there are enough vacancies at Phase 2C Supplementary. Even if balloting is required, the process is transparent.
I think it’s also better not to bring the principal’s attention to the "withdraw and reapply later strategy".
If you can decide you really want to try at Catholic High, then don’t even apply at Phase 1. The tough balloting at Catholic High happens every year so you can already weigh the risks now. -
hi everyone,
does anyone know chij kellock need the child to be baptize to qualify under phase 2b? -
Yes, the child needs to be baptized. Baptism cert of the child is required to qualify for Phase 2B.
