P4 parents, remedial starts in term 2. But is it only for selected boys? My son has not received any information on day and time.

The subject teachers will inform the class, even if 'selected' it is not compulsory to attend..

May I know if there are parents here whose kids are enrolled in ACS(J) or ACS(P) and have mild autism or Asperger’s syndrome? I will appreciate if you can share if the kids are adjusting well in school and whether the exam pressures are just too much even in ACS(J) or ACS(P). Much appreciated!

          Hello Parents,

My darling son is 3 years old (Singaporean) and we are planning to buy a property around ACS (P) or ACS(J). I am curious to know about the admission criteria to get into any one of the above mentioned school. We are not christian, community leader or ex student of ACS.

I also would like to know that if he doesnt get the admission there then what is the next step?

i am very new to singapore education system so i may ask some silly questions . My sincere apologies!

your guidance will help me alot to decide the better school.

          thanks,

            Hi Mommy2010

If you have no affiliation with the school, the only option you can do is to be a parent volunteer with the school at least a year plus before the registration year, meaning the year your son is in K1 you should start. You will need to clock in 40 hours of volunteer work. This will then make you eligible for Phase 2B, but not a confirmed place.

If not, then you will be under Phase 2C, which is open to the general public. For ACS(P), by 2C, it is usually quite a slim chance. There have been cases of parents registering under Phase 2B being told to try at ACS(J) instead.

If your son is unlucky to not get a place in 2B, you can still register under 2C. It is only if under 2C that you do not get a place, then MOE will just place your son in any available school.

Hope this helps...you may wish to check out MOE's site on Primary One Registration...
            All the best!

Additional info, both schools do not offer PV.

Yes… that’s true. When I called to ACS (J), same info. was conveyed to me. They do not have PV anymore.

My son is in P4 and from P1 till now, there is never a remedial class for all subjects. Whereas, for my girls who went/go to neighbourhood school, they have remedial lessons 3x a week. And lots of homework to completed. I don’t see that in ACS, my son is always so free that he watches tv all afternoons. I am getting worried. Is the school doing enough to ensure the boys are ready for PSLE when the time comes?

How is your son progress? If your son is doing well than you need not have to worry. Just put your trust in the school.

Problem is he is the borderline case. Not too bad for him to get teacher's attention to be called up for remedial. It is still passable for him in P4, but come P5 which is a big jump in the difficulty, I am afraid he will not be able to do well.
