I've been wearing progressive lenses for over 5 yrs now. You look through the lower portion to see near, and the upper portion to see far. It works quite intuitively for me and I didn't really suffer any disorientation etc during the initial days. I have a separate pair of glasses for computer use otherwise my neck aches from lifting my head to look out the lower portion.

My husband tried progressive lenses but couldn't get used to them, not sure why. He had Lasik done in his early 40s, but kind of regrets it as his astigmatism was not 100% corrected (they don't guarantee that it will be) and he started getting presbyopia at the same time. He had to use reading glasses initially, then after tha first year or so, his myopia increased slightly which compensates for the presbyopia. Now he doesn't need reading glasses again, but sometimes has blurry vision due to dryness and myopia/astigmatism. His advice is to do Lasik when young enough to enjoy the benefits longer before presbyopia sets in. I don't know if Lasik can deal with both myopia and presbyopia - my husband was given the option to correct one eye for each, but decided that it might be too confusing to cope with that.

I would suggest to get 2 outfits for interviews first. You can get the rest after you know whether your colleagues dress up or dress down. Good luck with the job search!

Thanks! Well, I never wore very high heels even when I was young and working, max. 1.5 inches. Yes, will get some basics first. But this is in the future - got to get back and settle the kids in school first. I probably won't start looking for a job till late in the year.

I leave my eyes as they are. Even spectacles are not perfect, so just live with it. Better than cut.

Do you also have myopia? If so, you can choose to correct one eye for myopia, and the other eye for presbyopia (called monovision, I think). Some people do that and can cope (I have a sil who has done this for many years), but I don't think I could. If you don't have myopia, you can correct for presbyopia, but then you would have to wear glasses to see distance, so that really doesn't help.

mine doesn’t give allowance…he will leave it to me…my clothes are easily more than 5 years old, except tees due to frequent wash and wear. my facial cleansing like toner and cleansing foam is also inexpensive…used lancome in the past but that bottle of toner is getting too ex.

I get a tidy sum for household expenses every month. No official pocket money for me. Only 1 credit card attached to his and can only use when necessary :evil:

I like to go shopping and spa so he is worried that I spend without thinking :heresmyfish:

When I tell him I need retail therapy, he will add in that line, 'use sparingly'. :mad: I love to shop...the most wonderful exercise :imcool: and only time I do not complain about having to walk...provided there is air con...which is why I like to stay in malls like Isetan, Taka and Paragon...all under one roof.

Mine comes with Transition (for sun) as well as Progressive (long & short-sightedness). It's thin and it's Crizal Lens. Costs about S$800. Not cheap. But I use for like 3yrs at a time, if not longer.

I did LASIK 6 yrs ago to correct shortsightness.

i also did my lasik 11yrs ago. but cannot see well at night recently…night vision deteriorated.
