All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers

Are there any schools or teachers who teaches only the aural component in preparation for ABRSM practical exams? Would be keen to explore that if it is available. Would be good if the lessons also teaches the correct way to sing.

I thought NAFA has dedicated aural class ? -
Focus is on theory… anyway, doesn’t hurt to do more.

Sleepy, classical because aural excerpts are generally from classical extracts. But folk and pop are fine too as long as the tunes are not familiar to your DD. jazz not suitable.

While I am sure there are teachers or schools who capitalise on this, I don't think aural component can be 'crashcoursed'. Aural training needs to be continuous; even if teachers do not specifically go through aural in lessons, students should take initiative to sing and listen more music. I think the best person to teach aural is still your kid's teacher; maybe can ask for slight extension of lesson every week until exam just to go through the aural part? -

NAFA has a separate class that teaches theory and aural. However, the focus is on theory, and aural is not done every week. Her previous school used to have weekly 1 hour aural class, but they don’t offer it as standalone.
Intention is not for it to be a crash course for current grade, but to prepare for higher grades in advance. Prior posters have mentioned that aural is more difficult at higher grades. Also I thought it would be a good idea for her to learn the proper technique to sing.
