NAFA has a separate class that teaches theory and aural. However, the focus is on theory, and aural is not done every week. Her previous school used to have weekly 1 hour aural class, but they don’t offer it as standalone.

Intention is not for it to be a crash course for current grade, but to prepare for higher grades in advance. Prior posters have mentioned that aural is more difficult at higher grades. Also I thought it would be a good idea for her to learn the proper technique to sing.

may i know what grade is your child ? after i have known the curriculum, i found grades 1-3 are quite easy, so higher grade is kind of suddenly getting difficult?

No idea about the Aural classes. My friends who's kids finished their gr 8 in NAFA did not take extra aural lessons outside. But yes, standard - all take grade 5 theory in Primary 2.

Last time for my son, for Aural training, I just sent for a few lessons with a piano teacher nearby. When my son did his grade 8, his accompanist trained him 2 mths before.

I don't know if it will suddenly get difficult. But you are right, grade 1-3 is quite simple. It's just that it won't hurt to improve listening skills.

Hi everyone, I am looking for a good piano teacher who can get along with 6 years old girl. We stay around Bukit Timah area, thus hope to look for a piano teacher in same area. We don’t mind go to the teacher house if she stays in Bukit Timah area, Bishan, AMK, Toa Payoh. Hope can get recommendations from the mothers here. Thank you.
