Don't worry lah, my daughter's not taking the place eventually. We just got another acceptance from another school, and we're going there because that's where my other daughter is. Sorry, didn't know that you will feel this way. My daughter didn't go through dance, anyway. The school does not want to limit her for dance and want her for sports instead even though I asked, so your info helped me to know the status but we didn't grab your place or spoil your chance. Good luck to you. Keep trying, the principal is great. My suggestion is to write to her. I think that helps a lot. Hope this helps you in return. PM me, I will give you her email address.
I have the principal's email. . Just never knw why they asked my DD for dance as she had little experience. I will be going to buy books and uniforms at the school she is posted to. Thanks for your offer. -

Write to her and tell her girl's specialty, that's what I did. Highlight her strengths and let her know that dance may not be her forte. Go for it. Call every hour on the hour, keep calling. Talk to everyone in the office, ask to talk to the teacher in charge, the principal, if they are not free, ask them who you can talk to instead. Offer this (service), offer your daughter's involvement in the school community. Praise the school for what you observed to be great. Make your presence felt. They will soon register your interest. You've got to fight for her. If you won't, who will? Today, when I was there, I saw another girl accepting an offer. They are able to offer now, so don't worry about face and keep doing it. Tomorrow office opens only half day, so you have very few hours. Just keep up the pressure. GO!! :rahrah:2ppaamm:

So far, i have corresponded with the principal many times via email...(but i have never call the office). I submitted the appeal form with testimonials and certificates of achievements. I also got a testimonial from the music teacher about her flute talent..Maybe I refuse to believe that my DD didnt do as well as she should be as she has been in the top 10% of the cohert until her PSLE. but I am getting tired, really tired.

anyone knows if appeal to RVHS is still on waiting list from now to 2nd week of January, does it mean that the chance is probably very slim and not much hope ?
understand some students already received
the transfer letters....seems like hope is fading....
anyone can share some info on last year appeal cases whether anyone successful on the waiting list ? -

Share a little story with you. This PSLE daughter used to top (top 1%) her school until P5, the year I took her out of school and homeschooled her. She took that year to do sports and other stuff. When she returned, to our horror, she became the bottom of the class. It was the top class, but she was the last girl. It was a blow to us, and I started to think what a mistake I made.
In P6, she traveled 6 times to do sports. So she had no time to study. She came back just a few days before prelims in august to take her prelims. Of course, she did not do very well, because she did not study. We thought it was ok, prelims only mah, so we banged on her PSLE. For her PSLE, this time, we are prepared, since she is my third child, I know she will score close to full marks for Maths, like the rest of my kids. Guess what? She had 3 cysts on her eye, and on the day of her maths paper 2, they burst. She spent 30 minutes cleaning those blood and pus up, she could not finish the paper or do the questions. They did nothing to help her. Subsequently, the school wrote a letter to MOE for consideration together with a letter from the doctor. The consideration they gave is to use her prelim results against her peers, which is the paper she did not study for! Her score, sadly is badly affected.
There's one thing left. Mum and dad's support and perserverance. That's all she has. She has us. I called one and my hubby called the other school. Non stop. Now we get her into a choice school.
Hope this gives your heart wings and recharges you. Let the past be the past. This one PSLE result does not determine your child's future, unless you let it. Go for it! Even if they tell you no, just keep asking. The door will open. One person will give up the place for another school and if you are the only one left standing outside the door, the principal will give it to you.
If they have asked you to go for the auditions, your daughter is 'take-able'. Bang on that. Even if you get a no for an answer, keep going back. Your daughter will thank you for that. :ugogirl:
PSLE is to place your child into a secondary school only. It does nothing else. Trust me on that. -

Thank you 2ppaamm for sharing your heart-warming and inspiring experience. I applaud you for encouraging your children to thread the untrodden path. Incidents like these remind us about the imperfectness of the system, which is why we must neither lose heart nor belief in our children and their capabilities. PSLE is important, but it is not everything. For those who made it to Secondary school next week, remember that it is the start of the rest of your lives. It is how you run the next 2-3 laps that will determine the opportunities that will open to you in the future. -
I called Crescent Girls. The lady in charge of appeal told me to call back on Monday. She said they are waiting for vacancies and will be able to let me know on Monday. The whole of this weekend is again burnt worrying.
