Scary:
My DD is in P2 & her class is now at middle of chapter 8. I guess if most of the pupils in the class can cope, the teacher will go faster. You may want to voice your concern to the teacher to see if he/she can offer any help.
My boy's class at Chapter 8. Not on Chapter 9 yet.ToughLfeMummy:
Hi,
Does anyone have a child in P2 this year (2013)? How do you find the speed of teaching Chinese this year? My child's teacher has completed Lesson 9 before the Term 1 ended and I find tough to keep up with this. I don't understand why there is a need to rush through all the lessons and complete 9 chapters when there are only 22 chapters for the entire year.
Any comments?
I would think that the teacher may want to spend more time on revising later on since the grades will be used for banding from this term onwards. Nevertheless, you should still clarify with the teacher about your doubts. -
FQW,
Is your son being taught by Mr. Chong Wee Sing (Zhang Lao Shi) for MT? -
qms:
Nope. His Chinese teacher is Ms Loh Wai Yee. Just curious, why do you ask?FQW,

He was my boy's favourite teacher when he was teaching in my boy's school. So, trying to find out whether his teaching method has changed. KPO only lah.

Does anyone know whether PH will conduct some supplementary classes for the P6 in June holiday?
If there is, when will it be? Thanks. -
Hi PHPPS parents of Lower Primary -
Want to do my part as 1 of the parents of a student in the Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG) team in PHPPS - to raise the awareness of this CCA in PHPPS.
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport where individuals or teams of gymnasts (from 2 to 6 people) manipulate one or two apparatus: rope, hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon. It is a sport that combines elements of ballet, gymnastics, dance, and apparatus manipulation. It beautifully displays the gracefulness abilities of our girls to handle apparatus, execute leaps, maintain balances, perform pirouettes (pivots), train their flexibilities, and artistic effect.
Despite the fact that RG CCA in PHPPS was only established a couple of years ago, with limited resources and a relatively small intake, this CCA has garnered numerous awards (you can see the trophies from RG displayed outside the General Office
) by our team of committed and determined girls and coaches. More importantly, it helps to train our girls physically through rigorous and demanding trainings, and mentally on their perseverance to master the ever-increasingly challenging moves and improve their time management skill to balance school work and demands from training, just like any other competitive sports CCAs.
Apart from the above, a practical or kiasu benefit you may say
, it is 1 of the DSA sports where a couple of our ex-RG gymnasts used to get into RGS, not forgetting St Nick Sec School is also 1 of the sec schools which considers RG as 1 of the key focused CCAs.
If any of your girl has dancing or gymnastic background, or who is flexible by nature, who love and enjoy challenges (ie a bit more challenging than Chinese dance or Ballet :siam: ), and has a bit of the competitive streak in them to win in competitions, oh, forget to mention your girl should be able to εθ¦οΌlet me know. I can connect you with the Head Coach to arrange for a trial/audition class. FYI - she is a Chinese coach who is known to be tough but δΈ₯εΈεΊι«εΎ
If you just want to know more about RG or RG in PHPPS, feel free to ping me
. My DS, who is doing ballet outside school, started off in another dance-related CCA in P1 but was attracted to RG after attending an RG competition in mid P1, switched to join RG straightaway, and has never looked back since then. She thoroughly enjoys and relishes the challenges that come with the training, and the sense of achievement that comes with after mastering each routine apart from the friendships she makes with the team. Being a mother, I am happy to see her going through this journey too
Apologize for the long email to do PR for this CCA  -

Jennifer:
Seriously, RI is not the only school that can produce students with good academic results.
I like pt 4 & 6. Keke.FQW:
1. My elder boy does not all boy's school- too rowdy
2. My elder boy does not like long distance travelling - waste time
3. My elder boy has a weak body constitution (then, of course)
4. We thought NJC no need to study Higher Chinese
5. I rather he be a big fish in a small pond
6. I was from NJC
7. I did not like the other 2 schools :rotflmao:
He's one of the few who can go RI but prefer not to.
My elder boy still can sleep by 9.30pm if he does not do leisure reading.
I sometimes take the public bus before the school reporting hours to Empress Place Market - seen enough Nanyang and HC students sleeping on the bus.
Good health = alert mind = good performance in school
HELLO!!!
I can't help but felt like sharing too. I have another \"factor\" that I will put in. The school that she will go to will also have a deciding factor on the boys she mixed with at the JC level and could possibly determine her future husband! Therefore, we have to consider very, very carefully. Haha. To me, very important factor cos I have only girls and when puberty and sorts kick in, woah....out of control.
There are more IP schools options now.
