That is a good start. My DS didn’t do too badly also. Hopes he can continue to work hard and strive for better results.

Yesterday, my DS fell face first when running down a slope during PE. Forehead, nose, leg and hands are all bruised. So heart pain. Hopefully, no further serious injury although he complained a little stiff neck this morning when he woke up. Not sure whether this is due to the fall or sleeping in a bad posture.

Hope he recovers soon...this long weekend is a good time to rest.

This test is the first one since starting school. A good start goes a long way bcos he can see that hard work pays.

Son told me oral on 22/4. Btw, he told me his teacher is attending course bcos there will be a new syllabus for history... :slapshead: hopefully it doesn't affect this year's sec 1.

Last time I got a friend who was quite brilliant in her school work but got a crush on a guy during JC and couldn't accept the fact that the boy didn't want to have a relationship with her. She felt he cheated her because he told her he didn't want to have a relationship with her as he wanted to concentrate on his studies but she saw him dating another girl. Then went super crazy until she had to stop school, stay back and dropped out! Her parents were devastated. I remembered them telling us (her friends) to talk sense into her.

I wonder if her parents talked to her about crushes, the feelings, the possible outcomes and reactions from the other party, impact on schoolwork etc before it happened? My girls started asking about crushes etc around 12yo because they read about them in books, and it gave us a good opportunity to talk about what they might experience, our views etc. I know there are dangers in putting ideas in their heads, but forewarned is also forearmed.

I think my friend was the only child and always had her ways so just couldn't take no for an answer. She's still bossy as ever if not even more these days.

Son received his first results from common test...A for history, geography, math and home economics (fried rice). English, Chinese and literature he has B.

I encouraged him to continue working hard and not be complacent. I am happy for him...it is a form of motivation to see A.
Good for your boy! :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah:

Despite 9 subjects, if he is able to see As, it is a motivation.

                    Hi Janet_lee88,

Getting so many As, your DS is doing so well.
Can you advise me if it is necessary to get other guide or assessment books for geography and history to study?
                    Thanks.

I bought that geography assessment title by Marshall cavendish...it is titled 'perfect guide'. As for history, he memorized. No other way.

He likes geography...as for history, I highlight impt points, make him memorise, then test him.

Yes, my boy has already received the SA1 time table & target setting. Surprising, he did not do that well for his Math, he got B3 instead of A. Maybe it is due to a Sec 3 topic - Indices. Higher Chinese is B4, which is better than what we have expected. The rest of the subjects are As.
