All About Measuring Home-School Distance

Love@Depot:
Hi a fren was asking :- can she use a rented unit(be it a hdb or condo) as the address for reg of d school while she already has a HDB unit ? N is it true d school will only look at d father's IC for the address ? Pls advise, thanks.
Use the address that your child will be staying in throughout his/her Primary school years to register the child. It can be a rented or owned property.
However, it is a criminal offense to rent an address for P1 registration and not have the child stay there as his/her main address while in Primary school. The culprit is a cheat who will find very little sympathy amongst parents who use bone fide addresses for P1 registration. -
Just wondering. Say I live in a hdb flat for many years already. Then my flat got enbloc and we moved to a temp unit. We are aiming for a primary sch which would be less than 1km from the old unit. Now the temp unit is more than 1km from the sch. We moved into the new place when our kid was in k2. So which address shd I use or which address would the distance be calculated?

do you have the \"Agreement of Lease\" for the new unit and that you would be able to move into the new unit within 2 years of your child's entry into P1?
if yes, you can use the address of the new unit
if no, you can only use the address of the current temp address -

The same would apply for those who move home just to get into within 1pm to their first choice primary school? Say we move to a new place, within 1km, just before pri 1 regn (I.e. Kid already 6yo). The new address can be used? -
yes. during registration, the address on the NRIC will be used.
for property under development, must be able to produce evidence from the relevant authority that you have committed to the purchase of this property. In the case of private property, you must produce the original Sales and Purchase Agreement. The date of commitment by the developer in the Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) must not be later than 31 December of P2 year. In the case of Housing & Development Board (HDB) flat, the Agreement for Lease is required. In addition, you have to sign a letter of undertaking to move into the new property within two years of the child’s entry into P1.
that’s the MOE’s rule for last year registration exercise. MOE may ‘fine-tune’ the rules if they deem necessary. -
Hi,
Anyone here know how to measure the distance from your house to Alexandra Primary School? It’s a new school that not in OneMap yet.

You should use the School Query function in onemap. The school is in the list.Hi,

Hi.
Supposing on day 2 of registration it turns out that there will be a cut off for all under 1km, and I am in 1-2 km or even above 2 km, the school will call me to inform me to withdraw my application. Is this assumption correct? Or will I need to monitor very closely hour by hour and initiate the withdrawal myself? -

You should monitor the situation yourself, instead of relying on the school. Not all schools will bother to call the applicants. If they do, it's out of goodwill. You can't blame them if they don't.Hi.
