Anglo-Chinese School (Primary)

Hi Mommy2010
If you have no affiliation with the school, the only option you can do is to be a parent volunteer with the school at least a year plus before the registration year, meaning the year your son is in K1 you should start. You will need to clock in 40 hours of volunteer work. This will then make you eligible for Phase 2B, but not a confirmed place.
If not, then you will be under Phase 2C, which is open to the general public. For ACS(P), by 2C, it is usually quite a slim chance. There have been cases of parents registering under Phase 2B being told to try at ACS(J) instead.
If your son is unlucky to not get a place in 2B, you can still register under 2C. It is only if under 2C that you do not get a place, then MOE will just place your son in any available school.
Hope this helps...you may wish to check out MOE's site on Primary One Registration...
All the best!

Hello Parents,
My darling son is 3 years old (Singaporean) and we are planning to buy a property around ACS (P) or ACS(J). I am curious to know about the admission criteria to get into any one of the above mentioned school. We are not christian, community leader or ex student of ACS.
I also would like to know that if he doesnt get the admission there then what is the next step?
i am very new to singapore education system so i may ask some silly questions . My sincere apologies!
your guidance will help me alot to decide the better school.
thanks, -

Yes… that’s true. When I called to ACS (J), same info. was conveyed to me. They do not have PV anymore.

My son is in P4 and from P1 till now, there is never a remedial class for all subjects. Whereas, for my girls who went/go to neighbourhood school, they have remedial lessons 3x a week. And lots of homework to completed. I don’t see that in ACS, my son is always so free that he watches tv all afternoons. I am getting worried. Is the school doing enough to ensure the boys are ready for PSLE when the time comes?

How is your son progress? If your son is doing well than you need not have to worry. Just put your trust in the school. -

Problem is he is the borderline case. Not too bad for him to get teacher's attention to be called up for remedial. It is still passable for him in P4, but come P5 which is a big jump in the difficulty, I am afraid he will not be able to do well.daranic:

I hope that he has a genuine and caring teacher to guide him in his studies. Anyway, do not depend too much on the school. I know there are many others who worry and feel the same like you.zakashi:

My son is in ACS P too. I am really concerned about the academic focus, or lack of, in the school. It appears that based on PSLE aggregate scores, the academic standards are dropping overall.
There should be more emphasis on at least maintaining a decent academic standard, discipline and values (e.g. punctuality). It certainly doesn’t help when you have a principal that does not see fit to pay a bit more attention to studies and doesn’t appear to keep time very well (based on all the parent talks, orientation that we’ve encountered him thus far). -
this forum is so cooooollll~~
i have one question… my husband was studies in ACS Junior Colleage before… can my son register under phase 2A for the ACS primary school?
