I know this friend has 4 kids (3 boys and 1 girl)…when she mentioned ‘5 kids’ at one gathering, I thought she had #5…until she clarified. Husband is the ‘5th kid’.

So, I will always be ‘pai Lang’…hubby tells kids, ‘I am ok, but your mother isn’t.’

Last night DS no.1 told me that he has music test today. \"Mommy can you teach me??\" I tested him out a little and fell off my chair. :yikes: So had to drop all the work and help him out with his music. Art also need help so have to start teaching him. Everything also need help! Wah, Sec 1 really headache!

This morning I made him sing out the notes and practising his finger positions all the way to school while hubby drove.

Last night, son had this program to write...I heard hubby helping him.
Daughter had this FTGP project to do...find pic of landmarks, print/cut and decorate. If I do not help, time is wasted doing this. Though my art is hopeless, still have to help. What in the world is going on? SA1 is just 30 days away. :stompfeet:

When I start to scold, DH will say how I know they are suppose to do work? Then the 'Ho Lang' suddenly become 'Pai Lang' and the kids will get scolded by DH. So even if TV still on, DSs don't dare to watch already. All become 'pai lang' :spank:

Both of them asked him to help with math...I was doing stupid art thing for daughter. When I was done, sat down to wait for washing machine to beep. Hub: 'you done already?'
Me: yes with art, no waiting to hang up clothes. Why?

son's mid-year exam time table is OUT !!!
the dates start from 30 Apr till 14 May...art is on last day and it is 2.5 hour paper :yikes: i told him i cannot help...my drawing of a cat and dog looks the same
This brings back memories of my sec school days. Art was always the last paper. When it was art exam, it was a time to rejoice because no need to study anymore. 😂
That hubby at home makes my blood boil sometimes...he never practise what he preach...we agreed NO TV but he switches it on, saying he wants to watch news...after that, he doesn't switch it off

If I am hanging laundry or doing something, then father, son and daughter will all be watching channel 8. Kids will get a shock when I walk into the room.

Sounds very familiar. I scold my daughter including my hubby.

I also scold them all. I'm the MAD Mother Hen.
You see boys never grow up. So Daddy is just like another boy in the house!
Well said!

Not directing this at anyone, just a general feeling I had previously and revived by this thread. It feels so meaningless to spend so much time on school work, be it homework or prepping for exams and tests. I can’t imagine doing it for years and I feel it is just not worth the sacrifices.

We had to spend a lot of time previously because of my son’s learning difficulties, and I felt really burnt out. Now that he has improved and is spending only a small fraction of the time he used to on homework, I still feel reluctant to sit down and do prep work with him for exams. Of course I wonder if I will regret this, but right now, I just simply cannot feel invested. One hour every day is all I am willing to put in.

                        Hi ammonite,

Now I truly understand why have kids at younger age.
The energy level is depleted after coaching older one…to make things worst, the standard is tougher and when have to coach younger one, it can be very tough.

I have invested a lot of time when he started primary school…last year, I felt totally drained. Just cannot face his work anymore…sec stuff is out of reach.

Kids in schools now have it real tough…endless tests/exams now are just one of many. Preparation is mentally draining…at the end of the day, is it worth it? Poor child is stressed…parents are also feeling that way. This is not holistic nor balanced.
