[Geylang] Primary Schools

kitab:
All these popular school(s) you'd listed down:-
I am interested in KongHwa p2C, I am SC within 1 km according to onemap.
In the event that I do not get Kong Hwa in p2C, I would like to know what are my chances of getting in Maris Stella, Haig Girls or Geylang Methodist in 2CS.
Maris Stella, Kong Hwa, Haig Girls, Geylang Methodist -
will be full house, by end of Phase 2C.
They won't appear anymore in 2C Supp.
By end of 2C, ALL seats will be taken up (100% occupany).
This means that under 2C - you can only choose one of the above school(s).
You need to assess situation during phase 2C, and decide which is the best bet.
Phase 2C (open to public) - usually either end of July or first week of August.
3 days will be allocated for 2C.
on the last day (ie. day 3) -
around 2.30 pm to 4.30 (closing time for P1 registration) - one of you station at Maris Stella primary, while your spouse station at one of the Geylang school(s), that your gut feel tell you got the highest chance to enter. Station yourself at the school premises, after lunch around 2.30 pm, on the last day. Do not take taxi last minute - because it is island wide registration day on last day - very hard to hail taxi on the road.
refer Geylang schools to choose from, in Phase 2C :-

Hihi , appreciate some advice …
I am within 1 to 2 km for both GMPS and St Stephen under Phase 2C .
Which is a better choice ?
Thanks ! -
Hi I am new to this forum. I am thinking of enrolling my son in Kong Hwa Primary. I request parents (of primary 1 students specially) to share their experience. it will be a great help to take the decision. Thankyou

Hi
Need some advise. I stay within 1 KM of Moha bodhi. But learnt that they do not have a PV scheme. So means that I can only qualify for Phase 2C right?
So in Phase 2B, I need to choose a school to volunteer without wasting the chance right? otherwise I will just wait for phase 2C to ballot for Mahabodhi right?
I stay in kaki bukit area. -

From personal experience, I think it is a great school. But looking at the results, it has been dropping slightly for the past few years. Go ahead and enroll your son in that school. Set high targets for him and he should do fine. -
Thank you very much. A further question regarding the strong Chinese flavor of the school… since we don’t speak Chinese at home (Indian languages) we have enrolled him in Chinese classes as preparatory. Will that be enough? Do non Chinese students fare well at Kong Hwa?

Have you already inquired with kong hwa primary school whether the school allow non-Chinese pupils to take up Chinese as mother tongue? You may want to confirm first. Kh is a sap school. Ask to speak to the Chinese head of department. If the reply is no, you may want to consider another school. -

based on historical trend / statistics:-
I am within 1 to 2 km for both GMPS and St Stephen under Phase 2C .
Which is a better choice ?
St Stephen primary (ie. Anglican faith) conducted balloting for PR children, within 1 km.
In contrast, Geylang Methodist primary (ie. Methodist faith) conducted balloting for PR children, between 1 to 2 km.
So If your child is Singapore citizen - should be able to enter either school.
But if your child is PR staying between 1 to 2 km, consider GMPS.
St Stephen - in red boxes (indicate intense balloting) :-

Some parents joined temple activities actively.
They joined sbf (Singapore Buddhist federation), get to know some senior people inside the temple or sbf, and entered Mbps via 2b route, if they can obtain 2b letter. You may call up both sbf & school how they Do that. Yoi need to know which correct temple to join. but bear in mind that the grassroot activity leaders will also compete with you, under phase 2b.
