How much time you spent with your child

when could we leave the children alone at home? When they r 11 or 12yrs old?

I started leaving my DS alone at home this year. Usually if DH and I go out for supper or movies. Occasionally we go out after DS goes to bed. We usually let DS know if we are going out.

in that case i need to know what is enrichment? is ballet enrichment? or is it those robotics or lego stuff?

Aiya no need to go into so specific.

Personally, I think a mix of academic (math, phonic, language etc) and a bit of extra like speech and drama, ballet, music, arts etc are nice. So long as the kid enjoys, has time for the classes without sacrificing sleep, play and dream time, just go for it.

I'm glad son studied in co-Ed school since p1...he is not into girls just yet...hope it stays this way until he finishes sec 3 (at least).
I told him when i was in sec school, I go home straight after school was dismissed too...at about same time everyday, I would be home by 2...really very 乖 one...no bluff. Alamak, that time not so stressful. No tests every other week.

Anyway my parents were never home before 7pm so I just made sure I was home by 7pm.

Mum didn’t give curfew but beauty nap was important…so I would rush home after school…shower, have lunch, get homework done and NAP.

Never liked to roam around after school.

Everyday I will spend 30min to listen to my kids. That’s what recommended by their life coach.

It works. We grow closer to each other and now my kids would tell me about their problems. At least I could guide them in the right way.

Sitting beside the child when he/she does homework...this can be seen as providing moral support but not quality time.

I do sit beside kids when they get hw done.

However, I think I should allocate time to talk with them. I have failed in this area. :oops:

[/quote]Hmm, my neighbour's son co-Ed school all the way, late night calls by 13 and bgr by 14 leh. she was teaching me how to get secrets out of teenaged sons... :evil:

hubby advised son not to get involved in bgr as studies will be affected…time is so tight everyday…to yak on the phone at this age is really silly.

Ballet is enrichment. For body and soul.

Until it becomes a pressing need to ACE exam after exam and later on to use for DSA. Unless of course like they say, the children are the ones who enjoy it and insists on doing it. Different story altogether.

Anything that is for the child's interest and no grades attached is enrichment in my books. If your child loves maths and want to take extra maths classes for fun, that is also enrichment to me.
