Anyway, I'm starting to sit down with him to study and I realized that DS no.2 might be in for a stormy ride soon. There is a jump from P2 to P3 and his foundation is not quite there though the results on paper was fairly good.

it is very worrying to read such stuff.
people do question why parents send their kids to tuition at lower pri when their results are fairly good. then also get to read that it is not difficult to get fairly good results despite poor foundation - what they need is short term memory, some luck and an easy sch paper.
so how? to tut or not to tut?

Sometimes I find that certain teachers are very unreasonable. No matter how hard the student tried to explain, they choose to ignore and think they are always right.

don't such teachers already existed in our era?
not to mention teachers, bosses/clients also sometime like that. but difference is that students can't quit school. :frustrated:

That's why I feel so heart pain for the students. They cannot argue back! They can only 忍!忍!忍!

That's why I feel so heart pain for the students. They cannot argue back! They can only 忍!忍!忍![/quote]It's part of the learning process of growing up in a world with all kinds of people. If life were too smooth, our kids would all end up soft and wimpy.

I am not so lucky. My girl is unable to focus & she is a slow worker. Work that can be complete in 1 hour, she will take 2 hours. Every kid is different. I think Janet will understand my girl & my situation better.

My DS no.1 also like that so I know what you mean. I had to devote so much time that I had to completely stop working just to sit next to him to make sure that work was done. This is a terrible problem in P5/6 when the work just comes back in piles.

Ha..ha.. So we have the same problem. Have to put everything aside just to sit with her. Just doing homework & learning spelling will take 3 hours. We even have to go to bed at midnight. Can you imagine she is only P2. What will happen when she is in P5/P6?

I know working adults have can unreasonable bosses who demand this and that. Now our kids have to learn to put up with unreasonable teachers…then for boys, they gotta tahan loud-speaking sergeants during NS.

Daughter needs 2 days to learn chinese spelling and dictation. So I allocate the time after nap and before dinner.


When son takes his O levels in 2016, I hope my stress level will not hit same level as last year. Bcos younger one taking PSLE in the same year :nailbite:

Use a timer. Then try to improve timing bit by bit. So everyday timing must improve a tiny bit and if not, some form of punishment like taking away some playing time etc. It works but you have to be super discipline.

12 midnight is way too late for a P2. Won't this cause more disruptions the next day when your DD is tired?

If my DSs sleep late, they will be even slower the next day moving around like slow Zoombies. So my target is to get them both to bed as early as possible. DS no.1 (9-9.30pm) since he is in Sec 1 and DS no.2 (8.30 - 9pm).
