I was trained by my nyonya mom so luckily DH likes my cooking (or rather my mom’s cooking style) more than his mom’s. But his mom does have her Hokkien specialities like Hae Chor which I am too tired to reproduce. DH did say my steamboat, popiah, chicken curry, braised belly pork and vinegar trotters were nicer than his mom’s.

The typical Chinese recipes are usually quite flat as compared to the same dishes done the Nyonya style. But I still lose to my mom lah… so I only cook Western / Jap / Korean or Shanghainese dishes when my mom is eating with us. Don’t want her to compare…

Dinner tonight was Korean glass noodles fried with Korean BBQ sauce, sliced chicken, bok choy, carrot and egg. Soup was the Liuwei herbal soup.

Why do men like potatoes so much? DH also wallops all the potatoes in my curry. His other fave dish is fried potatoes with baked beans / tomato sauce which his mom makes. I don’t dare to eat potatoes coz they go straight to your thighs…

My DH likes French fries. He has French fries at least 3 times a week.

                1. Japanese potato curry
                2. Potato salad
                3. ABC Soup
                4. Potato with minced pork
                5. Baked potato with any topping (delifrance)
                6. Curry chicken with potato

                All his favourite potato dishes.

I can't eat potato so much unless I really want to look like a potato. DH is lucky. Slim body. Waist only 30 inches despite eating so much potato!

I only had popiah tonight. Not much appetite.
