Hi mums,
I’d like to come by during recess to observe my dd on her first day of school but I’m not sure when that takes place as there’s no information in the parent’s handbook. Could someone pls advise? Also, can we actually sit with them during recess or are we only allowed to observe from afar?
Thanks! -
Was informed that we are able to watch them frm far. There will be a buddy assigned to them

-
Thanks for that Siti, but do you know what time is recess?
-
if there is no chg, it shd be : 1st recess 3 - 3.30, 2nd recess 3.30 - 4pm. I am not sure which recess time the classes are assigned to… i guess it’s better for us to be there for 1st recess to catch a glimpse of them.

Dear Luanee,
Thanks for your reassurance
adjustment to school wise I think my dd should be ok, it's just the long bus journey that I am more worried about.....

Dont think u have anything to worry abt regarding the bus journey, right now it sounds like one hour is long, dont forget theres a lot of \"distraction\"in the bus and that cuts down a lot of time. Youre lucky the bus comes at 11.30am, mine used to come at 11.10am and NOW at 5.55am
, first to go and last to get back. My girl rather take the bus even though i offer to drive her, she rather be with her friends playing games frm h/p laughing, chatting, arguing and sharing biscuits..I used to make her french toast n cut them into squares as that can last till evening. She will eat in the bus and drink her pkt milo... most kids get hungry in the evening
(oh,hope I didnt scare u} -
i agree 5.55am is v early but i bet they’d enjoy the ride vs us driving and nagging at them.lols… Thank god my am session dd pick up is at 6.30am and afternoon at 11.20am.
It’s the evening ride that i’m worried coz the jam in PIE can be that bad. Thanks for reminding abt the biscuits. Better pack some food or they be starving (frm my dd1 experience in P1).
Not to scare anyone but One bad experience, my gal (P1 back then) was send to the wrong house and the other poor gal was left in school. i donno how it happened but better make sure the temp name tag is on the uniform and i think we better label the bus no. on the tag as well. -
yup, my grl rather take the bus then have me nagging her all the way to school, while she sits behind me and sleep. Im living in the central so no PIE problem, only town driving and she normally get back by 7.35 or later. No big jam but heavy traffic.
I dont think there will be a repetition of what happened to yr grl a few yrs back, the bus dont move till all heads are counted, must inform the bus driver if we are picking up ourselves. Not easy for the busses too, 3 serious complains and they are out, so i rather deal direct with the bus driver and not thru the school. -
RGPS mommies - Thanks for your various reassurance on the school bus journey & 1st few days of school.
I remembered reading somewhere that we have to pack food for the P1 girls for their recess during the 1st 2 weeks of school. Is this your understanding too ?
Thanks

i thk it's better to pack .. but even if they don't their p2 buddy will show them the stall and assist them. my p1 dd is nervous but last nite her sis in p6 have briefed her the routine of what to expect frm boarding the bus to sch hall to recess and dismissal. Dd1 will observe her during recess. She feels better now

Thanks for your kind reply. Last minute help required: for tomorrow the 1st day of school, should the girl be wearing school uniform or PE attire, i.e. PE T-shirt & short ?
Thanks.

Ming
