The most important thing I learnt as a parent was to support my child. The 2nd most important thing was to hide my stress / frustration from him.

P6 is a very stressful year for the kids and parents. I was more stressed as a parent of a child taking the PSLE than when I was taking my PSLE many many years ago.
Wow, you are really a very sensitive mom...how do you hide the frustration? nowadays kids are smart...they can sense it even if they dont see it.

Haha... I should have said TRY to hide the stress and frustration. You are right, DS probably did sense it.

FYI, ACS(I) 2013 sec 1 COP is 249 for express stream for non-feeder schools and 256 for 6 years IP IB programme.

Total students intake is 270 for express stream and 180 for IP programme.

IP programme DSA vacancy is 90.

Sec 1 central posting vacancy is 90.

missed out the numbers for express stream DSA and sec 1 central posting.

Got the above statistics from this morning Open House.

p6 is stressful bcos it is a major exam...the first in the child's life.
how much/little and whether the child is ready for it is dependent on this exam...this is why it is so high-stakes. as a parent, i was very stressed last year...how much to push and when to hold back before burnt out.
hubby couldn't take leave until 2 weeks before the first paper.

My mum took leave when I took my PSLE many years ago.

She took leave to supervise me and make sure I had proper meals.
Moral support is just too important.

I asked my husband,\"If you don't go, what if the two of us go and jump off a building?\"

                    He went.

I am not sure if son wants me to go during release date. My parents treated my psle as non issue as I was the third one sitting. But I dreamt a few months ago that I was getting my psle results again. I felt very upset that they were not as anxious as me.

So I am going to check if he wants me around by then. I can always hide behind pillars at the void deck beside the school main gate. šŸ˜“
