Hi mummies, where do u go to get a backpack with personalised name for your child? I’m thinking of getting one for him when he goes to childcare. Or u can also recommend any place or website that sell nice backpack, its ok if there’s no personalised name tags. Thanks!

I remember a friend got it from a shop in imm but I can't remember the name now.... -
This thread is very helpful, Choosing a preschool for your child can be a tough decision! Friends and neighbors can be a good source of information and even forums too, but it's important to do your own research too. Every child is different, and what works for one may not work for another. This is particularly true if you have a preschooler with special learning or behavior needs.

So, everyone here must have had some experience of searching for preschools for their kids, unfortunately I don’t have any. Could anyone please suggest me how, when and where to search for a good daycare for my kids? Thanks for any suggestions.

In any childcare that you are considering, safety is of utmost importance. Do a safety audit of the entire environment including the classroom. I posted about a bad accident that happened to my girl's finger to warn parents out there in the following link. You must ensure that all doors and windows have safety guards!

Any idea does the CC 5.5days off day entitlement include holidays like New Year Eve, X’mas Eve, Deepavali Eve & Hari Raya Puasa Eve, etc?

Dear parents, (especially FTWM),
just need your 2cents on this…
do u think that childcare provides enough support for you to leave your child and go to work in peace? do you have any backup in case the childcare centre rejects your child in the morning for suspicion of a certain disease?
why am i asking this? at the moment, i am a sahm. this morning while checking-in my son to daycare (he attends a half day session), the teacher spotted a tiny red dot on his left arm. there had been several cases of chicken pox in the centre and they are stepping up on their guards. my son had normal temperature and no other spots. the principal insist that she will not admit my son back into the centre until i get a doctor to certify that he is healthy. which i promptly did. i took my son to a nearby clinic (the doctor thought that it was ridiculous to come to that conclusion just because of a single tiny dot), and back again to school with the letter.
later in the afternoon, after picking my son up from school, i bumped into another mom who thought that my son didn’t attend school today. i told her what happened in the morning and she said the same thing happened to her.
now, i’m thinking of going back to work soon, but if the school keeps turning away my son for every minor signs, how am i to commit to my future employer? are all childcare centres like this? do you have a backup (non-family)? -
i think it is important that the school takes the initiative to inform parents of what they suspect.
my son’s school does checks 3-4 times and they are strict on the health policies at the centre.
but what i like is that, the teachers too know they are not doctors,if they do suspect, they will call me and let me know while monitoring.
if the diseases becomes worst, i am advised to come down to pick my child immediately. unless serious case, i need to rush down. these days diseases spread very fast, my son has got HFMD once and it was a torture for him. i rather not take the risk and certify my child first. -
Good childcare centre means not only good childcare policy implemented, educator quality but also the environment. We do need learning tools in childcare center.
See this blog post for furnitures or tools that childcare center should have http://edupod.com.sg/blog/30/top-10-children-furniture-that-kindergartens-and-learning-centers-should-have/
Also on psychomotor skill learning? This blog post has some information about it http://edupod.com.sg/blog/7/improving-your-children-psychomotor-skills-through-interactive-tools/
Any opinion?
