Noticed that quite a number of kids went to school in uni today.. quite sad. Was expecting better participation. Perhaps some of the parents were not aware. The forum has been quiet for long!

There were less than 20 of us. Generally i think it was a good and fruitful session. Looking around the room I thought that it was going to be a quiet morning.. the parents look like the shy kind.. hahahahaha.

But once we got the ball rolling, we had a good discussion and sharing session.
Spent a lot of time discussing on Maths. Quite a number of us felt that our kids have problems interpreting the Maths questions. The way the questions are phrased vs what the question really wanted the kids to answer.
My daughter is one of those who didn't interprete the maths questions the 'mainstream way'. I don see it as she is struggling with Maths because it's not that she doesn't know maths concepts.. it's just that she answers it in an 'out-of-the-box' way. I don see anythin wrong with that.. but of coz.. the teachers will have to mark her wrong for that.
Hopefully it is somethin the school can look into.. to improve. -
oh yah… 2 of the parents also highlighted that the new bus vendor sometimes drop the kids off without ensuring that someone is there to pick him/her up. One parent even said that her son came home alone one day… before she managed to come down to the pick-up point.
Not saying this to alarm anyone… but parents whose kids are on transport… esp the return trip… do monitor and feedback to the school if this is happening. They take this as a serious security breach by the transport company and will not hesitate to take this matter up to them. -
I was expecting somebody to suggest having 2 recess breaks for children:-(
