didn't do anything except get her familiar with handling money.

      No assessments, or worksheets.

think I don't quite fit the profile of a kiasu parent. more like a laid back parent in this instant. 😉

        kiasimom:
        Dear parents,

        Relax!
The teachers in school will help your child blend in slowly and well with the education system.
Do not stress your child unnecessarily.
After all, your child is only in P1 and should enjoy school life.
Imagine your child freaking out even before formal primary education.

Trust me. Your child will be in good hands.
If only my ds2 (who will be in P1 next week ;)) understands this. He is more than ready for P1 and I totally let him be. Then his elder sis had to go 'frighten' him with p1 assessment books! Now he wonders if work will be 'difficult'

I have assured him the same way as kiasimum and yvetan2020, have shared here... Looking forward to a double coaster ride - two children in primary school!

More like a roller coaster ride, if you ask me :xedfingers:

As I watched my lil ones get ready for school, I realise that beyond academics and other practical skills, they also need to have adequate motor skills. These include cutting properly with scissors, drawing lines with ruler and using staplers carefully and correctly. Actually, I was surprised to see stapler included in ds2's list for first day.

Haha I think it's more like BLINK BLINK my DS is a dad already (psst not the 12-yr old UK boy turn dad type huh)! I wanted to throw away his completed assessment paper yesterday and he shouted, NO! need to keep these for my son. :!:

sssdarlings, yes times are different now indeed. I was just commenting to my DH that I don't see any kids crying during the P1 Orientation when the parents left them with the school teachers now. Kids nowadays are certainly more independent and confident.

PS: buds - let's see how long I can stay cool about the rat race 😄

Ha ha, my 7yo is keeping his unwanted toys for his children--we are not supposed to discard anything. All will go to the storeroom where his legacy will stay till his children are ready for inherit them
