Glad to see more parents on board this thread. Hope I can see more parents with existing children there...I seem to be the only one here!!!
Wow, the fares look ex! Almost double mine. Though I am unsure if the driver would be increasing the fares (as reported in the papers that some operators are), I believe it would be so drastic. So I feel that the fares quoted to you seem very high. Which operator is that? Frankel does nt seem very far from my plc. I am between 1-2km.GingerSilver:
Dear parents,
I am a newbie to this website, also to Ngee Ann Primary School where my daughter is going to next year!
Just wondering have you settled the bus transportation arrangement with the designated bus operators. We stay around frankel avenue and are within one km of the school. The bus fare quoted to me is $106 for two way, and $94 for one way. Is this a standard or reasonable fare?
Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance!

Hi Gingersilver
Have you managed to get cheaper bus transportation for your child? It's so exciting that 1st day's coming.

Nice to \"meet\" you.
My son is going to Ngee Ann this year too. And he's in the Love class, which class is ur girl in?
I stay at one of the lengkongs at kembangan and the bus fare quoted to me for one way (from sch to home) is definitely less than yours, although it's still subject to adjustment cos it's not confirmed yet.
My bus operator had called a couple of days before NYE to tell me the bus no. so that my son can q at the correct q.
BTW, I am really excited abt tmr too cos it not only symbolises a new stage of life for my boy, it's also a new exp for me as a mother with real sch going kids.
Have u settled all the books/stationery/uniforms?

It is so wonderful to see my girl being so excited about going to primary school. She was all ready for school on the first day -- we bid bye to her at 6.40am when she boarded school bus, and she waved at us with a big grin on her face!
As for the bus trasportation, we do not have much choice but to use the one and only bus service provider who covers Frankel side. I had checked with other bus operators and was informed that they could not cover our area....(my colleague lives around opera estate and his son goes to Tao Nan. The bus fare is increased from $85 to $95 starting this year)
When they have PE on a particular day, do they wear PE attire on that whole day? or do they bring PE attire to change in school?
Best regards,
Gingersilver -
No wonder the bus fees are so high - he's the only operator to Frankel...
Last year my DS would reach home about 35min after dismissal. For these 2 days, it took 1Hr! I really hope it's a case of new year with new students, thus the driver is still trying to work out the details and remembering the stops. I called up the operator's admin staff and she agreed that it's not acceptable for my DS to reach home 1hr after dismissal time for my location. We would monitor this week and I would feedback to her. Hope things would improve or else I have to look into alternative arrangements.
He's very excited to go back to school and I am glad to have my own \"me\" time again
Yes, the students would wear the PE attire the whole day. I like DS to have more PE days as this would mean lesser ironing, haha! -

Oh talking abt the transport. It's really horrible. It took 1 hr for the past 2 days for my boy to reach home after class dismissed. And, best part is, the bus driver just dropped the kids outside our place at the carpark entrance and they were like running on their own to us at the carpark. I called and complained yday, today they changed the bus without telling me and still said the driver said the bus too long, cannot go inside our carpark blah blah (while i saw several 40 seaters coming in during th 45 mins i stood there and waited) but at least after they change the bus for him, the bus came in to our place and drop him at the proper drop off area.No wonder the bus fees are so high - he's the only operator to Frankel...

I am so mad abt the woman who answered the phone when i called yday and today and also the driver of yday. How can they do that?!?! Was thinking of complaining to the admin mgr but not sure if it wld help cos its kinda the monopoly and we had no choice but to take their BS.
Sigh...
Like that the single session is super long for the kids. My kid, after having his light lunch and shower, cld only nap at 3pm. goodness.

My girl came home with her timetable yesterday. It seems that there are lots of English lessons (16 of them @ 30 min per lesson), as compared to Math (7 lessons at 30 min each). There is MT lesson every day for 1.5 hours (it is 15 lessons x 30 min) . On Thursday, other than PE and MT, the rest is EL (5 x 30mins). Wondering if this is normal or similar to your kidsβ timetableβ¦
What do Asb, ER and COMU mean? I suppose HE means Health Education? -
My DH is always the \"cool\" one. When I told him about the bus ride, he viewed it positively. He said it's a good time for him to communicate and play with more friends...haiz. This is probably the \"Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus\" theory.
Yes, the children may be famished and tired when they reach home. However I guess this is the trend to go for a single session. I personally really like the single session arrangement. We seem to have alot more time to spare haha. I can pack his classes in the afternoons instead of nights and weekends.
Hope your boy has fun so far

Yes, the duration for the subjects per week are rather similar. Guess with only 3 academic subjects, there are really alot of periods for each
Asb - asembly
ER - hmm, never seen that before...early recess??
COMU - Music?
HE - Yes, health education
There should be another called CE - character education.GingerSilver:
