Any idea how to clean the Nespresso machine? Especially the spout area?

I tried the two new flavors yesterday - Napoli and Trieste. Napoli's intensity 11 while Trieste is intensity 9. I tried Napoli first and liked it. It's very strong with a roasted (slightly burnt) aftertaste. I tried Trieste next. Compared to Napoli, it's milder, but still very nice. The Nespresso person described it as having chocolate undertones with an acid after taste. I just thought it was nice. I bought a few boxes of both. You have to buy them in pairs.

Wanted to order some online and realise that minimum is 200 caps. That is a lot and I may have to forego DH's regular faves if I order that. If I order that plus the regular, end up a lot. And 200 caps to try is too much.

Think will make a point to pop by one of the outlets to try and buy at the same time.

Yah, for free delivery usually about 150 caps min. But the online order seem to have the option for min of 200 caps only for this range.

Have you tried flushing out using purely water from the machine like making an espresso without the capsule of course? That's my daily routine. Descaling is done once a year.

Yes, I do it once a day. May I know how you do descaling?

Just do a blank flush. Run a cycle of lungo w/o capsule. The hot water will flush the chamber, dislodge residual from the filter plate (you can't see it) and kills bacteria. Some people observed slow flow - their filter plate could be blocked.

Yes, i do blank flush daily. I think my machine is having slow flow lately, any idea how to dislodge residual? Descaling? If so, how to do it? Thanks!

200 caps is way too much, unless you're combining with a friends. Go shopping there on the weekend.

Has anyone compared Nespresso with the Nescafe Dolce Gusto (I am not sure if I got the name right)? I heard the Nescafe is much more convenient because everything comes together but is the taste significantly different?

The Nespresso is designed for coffee gourmands, so compared to the Dolce, there is a large range of coffee. And unlike the Dolce, you can't make other types of beverages like tea and hot chocolate with the Nessie. But I've heard of people making tea with those machines by using re-usable capsules.

I gave away my Nessie some time ago because I wanted to grind my own beans (using a burr grinder) and brew my coffee using an 15ATM espresso machine. I get my hands dirty for a cuppa but the result is well worth it.

Once you own this, you never want to drink the normal nescafe or kopi-shop kopi again (for us that is lah). Of course Starbucks is a different league altogether

Agree with auntieM that its problem free and easy to maintain.

Plus point is that loads of coffee flavours to choose from too!!
