      Dear HappygoLucky,

During the P1 parents-meet-the-principal session early this year, the principal acknowledged that Chinese language has been a problem for the school. Looking at their past few years PSLE results, the performance for both A/A* and passes were well below the national average. Based on these results, may I suggest that we, the parents put more pressures on the school & the principal to improve on this during the next PMTP session ? SAJS should at least meet the national average standard right !!

For reference : SAJS’ PSLE CL performance

      Year (SAJS/AA*) National (SAJS/Pass) National
      2009 (57.7%) 81.1% (93.0%) 97.4%
      2008 (50.8%) 81.4% (95.3%) 98.1%
      2006 (50.0%) 81.0% (93.3%) 97.9%

      Thanks.

This same problem happens in other \"English speaking\" schools like ACS.

My son just graduated from SAJS. Even though he was in a mixed-ability class, he had very caring and responsible teachers, who motivated him to excel. The principal of St Andrew’s is very capable lady - she impressed me with her people skills and management skills. I trust that she is doing her best to raise the MT levels in the school. So, please let the professionals do their job. ( and not increase their stress level unnecessarily).

              Hi Parents

I am planning to send my boy to St Andrews Junior (on a rather last minute basis). Could anyone advise what are my chances of getting enrolled. I am not staying anywhere near the school…

              Thanks.

                Dear Piglet,

Which year is your son going to enrol for P1 ? If you still have time, aim for phase 2B with PV, grass-root leaders or church affiliation. From last 2-year record, phase 2B applicants staying above 2km still have a pretty good chance of getting into the school. For phase 2C applicants staying above 2Km, chances are very slim. May not even get to ballot. Hope this helps.

                  Dear Stressed-Father,

We are to enrol this year 😢 and staying out of the 2km range. Guess we have to either try our luck or look for an alternative.

Thanks for your response though 😄
