Are there 13 classes in total? How are the girls grouped - by PSLE t-score ? Kinldy share if you have the information. THANKS.

Hi Fairy,
My daughter will be in sec2 next year. The lit book for 2009 sec1 is 'sense of belonging' and 'power of peotry'.
There are 13 classes in her level, the PSLE high scorer and GEP students will be grouped in the last 4 classes. The school does not groupt all the sports DSA students in one class, but the students from the same sport are allocated in the same class. For example, tennis DSAs will be one class, and table-tennis DSAs will be in another class.
They have three PE lessons in 2 weeks.
I would say the teachers are good. -

Hi wmd,
May i know why do you expect your daughter to be in a GEP class? I understand she was from (primary) mainstream? I know of students in class 13 from mainstream with PSLE T-score lower than 270 and other mainstream students with T-score of 280 & above posted to class 9 & below.
Any idea how the class allocation was done? I'm very sure it is not based on T-score as some of my daughters' friends with lower T-scores are posted to one of the last 4 classes. -

I was waiting for my DD in the foyer after school and had the chance to browse through the class lists. Each year, there can be 4 or 5 GEP/top mainstreamers classes, depending on the cohort. Got this information from the school admin.
From my humble observations, the last 5 classes (109-113) this year consist of the GEP, top PSLE mainstreamers and some academic DSA pupils. 113 also holds all GEPers taking MEP. Not sure how many.
By and large, the allocation appears fairly random and not strictly arranged according to T-scores. However, I did notice that 3 of the top 13 PSLE pupils (in the nation) are in 113, another 2 or 3 ( I believe it's 3) in 112 and 1 in 109. Just for interest sake, out of the top 13 pupils in Singapore, 8 are girls, out of which 7 are in RGS. Last one is in NYGH.
Cheers ! :celebrate: -

Did the girls you mentioned with T-scores less than 270 in 113 enter via DSA (Maths/English or MT)? This may explain why they are there, as last year's 113 also had mainstream pupils from Maths DSA. -

From my observation, apart from those from Pri GEP who are grouped in the same classes, I do not think there's any 'top' classes. In my daughter's class, there are those with >280 & those with <270. She also claimed she saw a Pri GEPer :? and her class is not one of the last 4 classes! (ie. 10 to 13) -

Is your dd in 09? This year the GEP classes are 09-13.
